Abandoned

Part 1

Ruby's POV:

"Why would she want her back after 14 years?!" I hear Olivia shout from the kitchen.

I creep down the stairs into the hallway, tiptoe over to the kitchen and hide behind the island.

"I don't understand either, but you have to calm down, you're gonna freak Ruby out." John says.

Why would I be freaked out? After 14 years? My mum? Does my mum want me back?! I don't want her to take me back, I finally realized she didn't want me and that I was an accident, I finally have my life back. Why would she want me-

"Ruby?" Olivia asks as she peaks her head around the corner.

"Does my mum want me back?" I ask, my eyes tearing up.

"She's trying to get custody back, but we're not letting her take you." John says and kneels down in front of me.

"A-are you sure?" I stutter.

"Sweetie, of course." Olivia says and hugs me tightly.

-2 weeks later-

Today was court day, I was gonna face my mum for the first time ever.

I heard she is 29 and a famous pop star, but that doesn't change anything for me. She left me when I needed her the most. She has no idea how much crap she put me trough.

I sat down with Olivia and John and looked around. It was very pretty inside, almost everything was made out of wood.

John and Olivia said that my mum had one of the best lawyers out there. We had a good one too, but we're not as rich as her.

I look her way. She was very pretty, she had long, brown and curly hair, long eyelashes, a perfect nose and perfect lips. She took her band mates with her, a middle aged man and an older lady, I'm assuming that's my grandmother and the man is my uncle or something.

"Hello everyone, today we're gathered here for the custody battle of Ruby Thirlwall."

"Johnson." I said, correcting the judge. I looked over at "my mum" and saw a sad look on her face.

Our lawyer started talking, I was looking at my "mother" the entire time, she seemed nervous, extremely nervous. She was holding onto a blondes hand and her eyes followed our lawyer every step he took.

"Ruby, what is your biological moms name?" Samuel asks, Samuel was our lawyer's name.

"I don't know." I shrug.

"That's what I mean." He says, "She doesn't know anything about her, that's because mrs Thirlwall abandoned Ruby when she was a baby, only a couple minutes old."

I felt a tear roll down my cheek.

When Samuel was done their lawyer walked towards us.

"How old were you when the Johnson family adopted you?" He asks.

"Like 13." I shrug .

"And how many times have you've been in the hospital since?"

"About 5, but I have a lot of conditions and I-"

"That wasn't the question." He says, cutting me off.

He starts rambling about how irresponsible Olivia and John were and how you have to have a kid in care for at least 1 year to call them your own.

"Okay, jury have you come to a conclusion?" The judge asks.

"Yes." A woman says and stands up. "Ruby is to young to decide for herself. Ruby is going home with Mrs Thirwall."
