Chapter 18

Leo's POV

My legs were weak, my mind just doesn't know how to process this. She is his fiance, what does that mean when we are married, we can't be married then get engaged to other people "I am completely lost here, what do you mean you have a fiance"

"You are never around Leo" Molly said but that doesn't justify what she did, I have been in the army thinking I will find my wife and kid at home, thinking I have a beautiful family only to find her pregnant and engaged, it is like she has been moving on with her life without me knowing anything about it.

"That doesn't justify what you did" I was still so shocked to even feel anything than shocked "I know I was never around but you can't be engaged to some dude just because he was around when I was absent"

"Your never around and I am your last priority" her tone was still calm "I am your wife but I am always never in your mind. You call once in six months, your ring is never on your finger, I gave you a necklace for you to keep it close to your heart but that also seemed so hard for you to do, I was the only one fighting for this marriage"

"It is just a ring, I forget about it and if someone wanted to know if I am single I just tell them that I am married, I am not like you. You wear it everywhere but look where we are standing you're pregnant and engaged"

"I am a woman who has been holding on to this marriage ever since you joined the army, I get tired Leo. Sometimes I just need someone who isn't a million miles away from me. Even when your close your still so far away"

"Terry won't be with you all the time"

"But he won't be miles away" she countered, she walked to the table where her melting ice cream is. She opened the drawer picking out some papers "I will be taking full custody of Lola but you will be able to see her every time your back"

"Molly you can't do this to us" I denied not taking the papers once I saw 'DIVORCE' written on them "I am going to be around this time, Molly we can work things out" I took her hand in mine "I am going to be back in no time"

"You will find Lola waiting, not me" she held my hand putting the divorce papers in my arms

"Molly please, just give me another chance we can't resolve in this" I begged, divorce is just taking this too far.

"We can't because I fell out of love" those words were even bigger than the impact of the papers in my hands. The room was so quiet that I was afraid to breathe, she has always been in love with me, I knew the distance between us ruined this but not like this, we could have fixed it all, fought for this, not let our years to just end like this.

"You fell out of love" I mumbled staring at the divorce papers, that just means it is over and there is absolutely nothing we can fix "Does Lola know?" I never thought we would be in a place like this, getting divorced from the woman I thought I would spend the rest of my life with.

"She doesn't know but I want her to know soon"

"You have already made your decision" I asked trying to confirm what she said, she nodded "Where is she?"

"At my mom's house"

"I will go see her" I stood up looking at Molly, I don't know what to say. I have known her to ten years, we have a daughter together and I thought we will be spending the rest of our lives together. Funny how we are staring at each other knowing this ends here "Aren't we going to try and do this for our kid"

"Leo there is no saving us, I have already made my decision"

"I will be going" I didn't know what else to say, I walked out of the room in my heart still not believing that my marriage is over. Ten years and it has all come to this, just papers in hand, ending something that has been going on for ten years. I threw the divorce papers in the passenger seat before starting the car, still processing the news

The drive to Molly's mother felt so long and lonely. The person I was thinking about spending my entire life with has just asked for a divorce and is willing to give birth to another man's child, start a new family with the new guy. There is no turning back when she accepted Terry's ring and she is willing to start her life with him. I glanced at the divorce papers, I don't know how a surprise visit turned into this so quickly, how is Lola going to take this, I have not been here for the most part of her life and now we will be separating completely leaving her with a broken family.

I knocked on the door and when it opened Elena, Molly's mother. She gave me a small smile before letting me in calling Lola. My baby girl came in the hall with coloured pencils in hand, messy hair and the moment she saw me she ran over to me with a big smile 'there is someone who missed me' I scoped her up in my hands holding her close to me, I missed her so much.

She has grown since the last time I saw her, I walked out with Lola on my shoulder after informing Elena that I will be bringing her back later. I had some quality time and when I told her that I will be coming back soon she was happy, I didn't tell her about her mother nor did I say anything about her pregnancy, I figured she would like to break it down to her daughter.

Lola talked about her school and the boy she has a crush on, she likes him but then again she said he is damn and doesn't know that she likes him. I just laughed it off but I wouldn't like any boys around my daughter, she is still young for that but I am not usually here and when I come to visit I wouldn't like to make her sad about anything. We moved to her pictures, she has improved since the last time I saw her pictures. she has a lot of pictures of me and her mom as the family and they are wonderfully detailed.

She needs me here, her smile was wide for the entire day. She wanted us to go back to her mother and spend the day with her, I had to lie in that. Molly might just destroy the day or refuse to play happy family "What do you want me to bring you when I get back?" I asked kneeling down on one knee.

"I want a big birthday gift daddy" she said with her hands out showing me how big the gift should be, I laughed nodding asking her what else "Lots of kisses"

"Can I start those now?" I asked pecking her entire face while tickling her tummy "What else should I bring?" I asked again after torturing her with kisses.

"I want a baby brother" I laughed nervously staring away from her

"Yeah, yeah" I replied nodding my head while clearing my throat, she will get a baby brother or sister but he won't be from me "Okay baby, daddy has to go, see you soon, I will miss you"

"I will miss you too daddy" She said with tears I'm her eyes, I pulled her in my arms calming her down promising to come visit her very soon. She will need me more than ever this time after she finds out the truth about us, this is going to crush her more and I wish I can take it all back and make our family great again "I love you daddy"

"Love you too sweetie"
