The first thing Hermione notices is pain. A deep physical pain that has left her temporarily paralyzed. A groan escapes her lips, as she slowly her eyes, the sun blinding in her eyes, blinking for clarity. Another groan escapes her lips as she moves to sit up, everything hurts, muscles she never noticed before had a deep profound ache making everything feel heavy.
Did it work?
Looking around she notices the Runic Ley lines she drew are gone along with the grass that would have been inside the circle, everything she had is strewn about the empty field that is surrounded by tall grass that must be one and a half meters tall, save for the single massive tree in the center of the field. Hermione notices her wand has fallen next to her, as she reaches for it she feels something akin to being struck by lightning courses through her body. Hermione lets out a scream before she can even think to stop or suppress it, but as soon as it started it stopped leaving Hermione with a weird tingly sensation all over her body.
"What the hell was that" Hermione groans out as she picks up her wand, she suddenly sharply inhales as the wand shocks her, causing her to drop it.
"Wha-" she says as she looks at her wand curiously. Feeling the air prickling on her skin, she looks around noticing the unconscious dark figure behind her. As she moves to stand up she hears something quickly approaching. The second she stands she sees a blur of fur before she's barreled over again.
"Oof" Hermione says as her body hits that ground again. She opens her eyes to a savannah cat standing on her chest staring down at her. "What was that for ya crazy cat?"
The Savannah cat adopts what looks like a pout on its face, crawling off Hermione's chest to sit next to her as she moves to sit up. "You mean you don't recognize me?" A deep melodic voice resonates in her head. Hermione's eyes go wide with shock looking around quickly, seeing nobody, she looks back at the cat.
"Did you just say something?" Hermione says shock and confusion evident in her voice.
The Cat's eyes light up "You can understand me?!" Hermione slowly nods her head and the cat starts sprinting around Hermione in a playful manner. "Years have I waited to be able to talk with you" the cat stops in front of Hermione putting his paws on her legs, a cat-like smile on his face.
"But who are you?" Hermione says, confusion still evident on her face.
The smile falls "you don't recognize me? I've been by your side for years" The cat says, his ears drooping.
It's silent for a few moments, a gentle breeze blows through the field she woke up in. Recognition spreads across Hermione's face like a wildfire. "Crooks?"
Deep rich laughter bounces around Hermione's head as the savannah jumps for joy "You Know Me!"
"How!? You look so different, you are an entirely different breed of cat, you look nothing like the Himalayan I've come to know." Hermione asks, picking up Crookshanks and hugging him "How did you even know where I was?"
"The magic of this place feels different, I think it's the reason I can talk to you, and I don't know why I'm not in my body, but I like this one I feel stronger and faster," Crookshanks replies looking down examining his body as best he can "also you tend to talk aloud when you're alone and you start planning something, so I heard you and followed you. I didn't want you to leave me, you're mine, my human." He finishes, his ears drooping again.
"Merlin you act like such a dog now" Hermione chuckles
"NEVER CALL ME A DOG, I'M NOTHING LIKE THOSE FILTHY MUTTS!" Crooks hisses
"Sorry, sorry never again." Hermione laughs setting Crooks down, moving to stand
"Where are we?" Crookshanks asks sniffing the air "The air even smells different... Sweeter?"
