Chapter 1: The Breakup

Tabatha Angeline Givens is a curly-haired woman who enjoys getting tattoos and the black community. She also has curves that will stop a man in his path. She's used to men staring at her, sometimes she wishes that they would just walk by her instead of looking so hard. Everything in her life was right, she had a good job and everything she could ever want but her relationships always went south.

Her relationships would go from feeling like the best thing ever to the worst. Most of her relationships were bad she's been cheated on and verbally abused. Her first good relationship was with a man named Oscar, but before him, men just walked all over her, and she just let them because her self-esteem wasn't high enough to say no or to stop them.

She was 24; he was 25. They have been dating for three years and they loved being around each other they did everything together. He seemed like the perfect guy, the guy of her dreams, but there was one problem, she never met his parents.

She felt like she wasn't good enough to be a part of his family or to even meet them. She also felt that Oscar was embarrassed by her. She introduced him to her parents, they liked him instantly and thought he was an outstanding man. Her parents, Charlene and Derek Givens are very talented and smart her mother is a judge and her father works as a lawyer . They instilled in their daughter to do something that she wouldn't have to depend on a mans help with. Her parents are separated they have been seperated for quite some time ,but they are working towards getting a divorce.Her parents have not been getting along since Tabatha started going to college and shortly before she went they went to couple counseling . However they realized a couple years later , that it just wasn't working between them. When they told her , she was devasted but at the same time she knew things happened for a reason.

There was one night her mom and dad had a dinner and they called Tabatha and invited her and her boyfriend. They loved him and Tabatha's mother pulled her to the side and said " Hold on to him as long as you can he is a keeper." She told her mother she will. Oscar majored in criminal law, something about it just sparked his interest. He was always kind to police officers and never got in trouble with the law. However, his family members didn't have the same luck, they have gotten accused of stealing and being gangs. It was the type of situation wrong place wrong time.

Tabatha noticed a change in her boyfriend's behavior like he was hiding something from her. Tabatha and Oscar shared a apartment they only had a couple more months left before they graduate college. Tabatha and Oscar were watching a movie on Netflix. Oscar got up from the couch and looked over at Tabatha and said.

"Baby I'll be back that coffee went right through me." Oscar replied whilst holding his stomach.

"Ok," Tabatha replied as Oscar walked away.
