'This is painfully cliche'

That was the first thing Aaron thought as he stepped off the bus a stranger was in his face ready to greet him. She was a redhead that had her hair up in a bun. She stuck her hand out to him with a smile plastered onto her face, "It's nice to meet you, Aaron!" He stared at her as he gripped the handle on his suitcase. 'Who is this woman, and why does she know my name?'

When she saw the look on his face, she said, "I'm sorry, I'm Robin. The carpenter around here! The mayor sent me to collect you." He made a little 'o' shape with his mouth. This was even more cliche. A carpenter? Was this that much of a small town?

"Y'know, speaking of the mayor," she said, "He's down in your grandfather's old cabin right now tidying it up right now." She turned and gestured for Aaron to follow. He jogged after her until he was side by side with her as they walked down the hill and to the cabin. Aaron hid his excitement. This couldn't be that bad! He was going to stay in a quaint little cabin right outside of town. It sounded great, except for the walking bit to town.

Robin continued the conversation, "Lewis and your grandfather were grand friends, so it came as a shock to him when Lewis heard your grandpa had died."

"He passed when I was young, I didn't get to know him, but I knew him well enough to love him and grieve when he passed away." He smiled wistfully as he remembered his grandpa.

His smile changed to a happy one, "But that's alright! He left me with a little Eden to escape to and I've just stepped off the boat he gave me to take." Robin beamed at him. "It's good to see you're not discouraged. It delighted Lewis when he heard you would come to live here. He'll be in good spirits once he sees you being so lively!" He nodded with a smile and let the woman chat his ear off as they continued walking.

THIS was the cabin? This was a SHACK. Aaron eyed the old structure, or rather the gaping hole in the porch. Sure, no one had lived in it for a few years, but that didn't explain why the thing was decomposing.

Robin put a hand on his shoulder, "Yeah, the thing's pretty ugly. When you've got enough money to come to me and I'll fix it up for you." He nodded aggressively. That he would do promptly.

An old man came out of the house shaking his head, "Don't listen to her! She just wants the cash. Your grandpa lived just fine in this old beaut." Aaron eyed the building again with a raised brow before exchanging a look with Robin. They both shook their heads at each other as Lewis continued, "I've got everything nice and tidy on the inside. The rest of the land is yours to mess with. I'm sure you'll restore the farm to its former glory."

He came down towards them, the old stairs creaking as he walked down them. "Now if you'll excuse us. Robin and I have to go now." Robin simply nodded and started following him away from the shack. "Sadly we do," she said as she waved goodbye, "Drop by my shop later, I'd love to talk to you more!" Aaron returned the goodbye wave, smiling as she disappeared over the hill with Lewis. At least he was already making good friends with the locals.

Aaron turned back to the shack. The wilderness around was creeping on it and trying to reclaim it. Aaron however, could not allow it. He was going to somehow farm this wasteland, earn money, and live well! He would take this land his grandfather left him and make it his own!

A/N~ Hey guys! This was the prologue for the fanfic I'm working on! I haven't seen too many Stardew Valley fics and I wanted to read some. So I decided to make one since I've been itching to do that too!  It was short, but et me know if this was good, thanks! -Random-Kun
