?Chapter 2: Haven't Packed Yet¿ ⬛◼◾▪

I reached my room to find: my mom taking out my rectangle - shaped baggie pack from my closet, the window closest to my bathroom open, and my bathroom door open (okay, okay, I get it, none of them are that notable are they?).

"Aqua," my mom said, unzipping my baggie pack, "how come you haven't packed yet? We have to go to the spaceport tomorrow. Is there a reason you haven't packed yet?"

"No," I for some reason sarcastically replied, "Just procrastination."

My mom then sighed, sharply inhaled, AND THEN SIGHED EVEN FASTER. I think mom just broke a system record for the fastest sigh.

"I'll pack your main bag," mom said in exasperation. "You can pack your carry-on."

Mom opened my baggie pack while I went to my closet and pulled out my backpack That's been catching the house for the past 1.5 years.

I went to the basement to get my touchpad and stylus which is in a heavily carpeted room that's next to the main control room.

"Dad!" who I assume is Jace - yelled. " You don't understand! I want to tell Aqua!"

" I fully understand," who I assume is Dad - said sternly, " but now is not the time to tell her."

I pressed my ear on the wall to hear what Jace and Dad were saying better.

Why is Jace asking dad if he can tell me something?

"We've been keeping it for 5 years! " a shrill voice, who I'm pretty sure belongs to Jace said. "I mean, I've been keeping it for three and a half years, but you and Mom have known for five years. The WHOLE THERMAL SYSTEM has known for FIVE YEARS! Why can't I just tell her?"

"Jacelynn-"

"Dad, you know I don't like being called by my actual name."

"Jace, your sister isn't ready to know yet. If we tell her now, who knows what will happen!"

Jace sighed and opened the main control room door (I only know this because I heard creaky hinges, and the door in my room isn't open). " I won't tell her now dad, but I don't think not telling her is right." The door seems to have closed by now so I took my ear off the wall.

What secret did Jace want to tell me? What secret are they keeping from me?!

I grabbed the touchpad and stylus and then made a mad dash out of the basement, up the stairs, and into my room.

I never made it to my room.

I ran into Jace, who was holding a cup of milk and a large Cheerio with chocolate chips. Due to me crashing into Jace, half of the milk in the glass was dripping off of him. The Cheerio (that was somehow still intact) was kinda wet on the top from the milk.

"Really Aqua?" Jace asked. "Now I have to take a bath again!" he said very dramatically. (He went on his knees, closed his eyes with his head facing the ceiling, and had milk dripping off of him. I'm talking about that sort of dramatic.)

"Look! I'm sorry."

"Well, I was about to eat my crunchy donut."

"It's a Cheerio."

"It has chocolate chips! And a large Cheerio! I mean, Cheerios are technically crunchy donuts. See?"

Jace took a bite out of the Cheerio as crumbs fell from the bite.
