Your sitting out in a grassy field, stretching out as far as the eye can see and your sitting on a red and white plaid blanket. Soft breezes swirl your hair around your face, and another persons hair flutters into view. Your head turns toward the source of the strands and you see a familiar face.
"Kenma?" You mutter.
He only stares at you, a puzzled expression on his face. It seems as if he's gone deaf and mute for that matter. Your eyes shut for a split second, only a blink, but when there open again he's halfway through the field, his silhouette no bigger than a small dolls. You call out to him but no words come and the reason quickly becomes apparent.
The field is no longer grass and blue skies, it's a vast, dark ocean and your lungs begin screaming for air. Soon however your attention is averted by another issue. Kenma's unconscious body is drifting down to the sea floor that you can only assume is below. Word's can't leave your lips and your weakening body can't reach out so silent tears stream down your face as you think "Kenma, don't leave me."
A gasp leaves your lips. The dark water and suffocating feeling is gone but the dread and fear remains. It was only a dream, just a dream.
You look around while taking in your surroundings. This wasn't your living room where you had fallen asleep the previous night, it was your bedroom. Kenma must have carried you into your room. Seems like that dream left you more disoriented than you thought. You've finally settled down when a new realisation sends your heart racing and heat into your cheeks. Your head is resting not on a pillow, but Kenma's chest!
Quickly you move away, scared that Kenma would wake up and notice what had happened. Unfortunately the abrupt movement has the effect of awakening the sleeping boy.
"Mm, oh good morning." Kenma says groggily.
It takes a minute but when Kenma's eyes fully open he looks into yours in concern.
"Why are you crying?" Your hand goes up to your eyes and wipes at them. When you pull away there's a tear drop sitting on the top of your hand.
You begin to stutter, unsure of the exact reason for the waterworks. "I don't know just, don't leave me okay?"
Instead of replying Kenma reaches his arm around you and grabs the back of your head, pulling you close. The embrace has an instant calming effect and is the exact reminder you needed that he is yours, and you, his.
You spend a while longer wrapped in the security of the hug before breaking away to look up into his eyes.
"Alright I'm okay now." You coo up at him.
"Wanna tell me what happened?"
You shake your head and bury deeper into his chest. The flow of time slows and at some point the both if you drift off in a peaceful sleep. This time when you open your eyes to find that Kenma is still cuddled close you don't make the mistake of pulling away. Instead you appreciate the moment, looking up and admiring his beautiful features.
Too soon his eyes open and you brake your gaze in embarrassment. However it appears he saw because he smiles down at you. That smile of his always makes you blush. Kenma shifts beneath you but you simply re-adjust getting comfortable again.
"Kitten?"
You jump a little at the new Nickname.
"You are okay with me calling you that, right?"
"Y-yeah, more than okay actually, I l-like it." Your a bit of a flustered mess but you manage to get the sentence out.
He chuckles quietly and you mutter a shut up from within the folds of his hoodie, never looking up.
"C'mon kitten time for breakfast." His voice is suddenly energised, a steep contrast from the groggy tone of moments before.
You shriek as he scoops you up bridal style and begins to carry you towards the door. As the sight of the warm bed leaves, you gasp and begin reaching out in the direction of the room you had just left. Realisation finally sinks in for Kenma, a heavy sigh leaves his lips before he takes you back and grabs your grey and white blanket. Excitedly you accept it from him and snuggle it in close before he continues his decent down the stairs.
Once you've rounded the corner into the kitchen Kenma places you gently down on your feet.
"Okay so we have eggs, rice, vegetables, fruit, yogurt, bread." He begins listing off the choices for your morning meal when you interrupt.
"Cereal!" your absolute favourite for sleepover breakfast.
With no objections you head for the pantry and grab the Lucky charms pouring a bowl for the both of you and adding the milk. Finishing up you grab the bowls and join Kenma at the table.
"Itadakimasu." You say in unison and dig in.
After a long silence filled with stuffing of faces Kenma speaks up.
"I say we tell Kuroo before the BBQ and everyone else during."
Well that was, abrupt you thought. But he was probably right, it would just be wrong for Kuroo to find out at the same time as everyone else.
"Yah ok I'll tell him to meet at the usual spot, what time?" You grab your phone and look across the table expectantly.
"12:00"
You swiftly type out the message and put your phone back down beside you and go back to your food.
There really wasn't a point in you going back home for the hour before you met up so you just got ready at Kenma's place. When you were finished Kenma took his turn and then you head out to the park. You walk the distance hand in hand but when you see Kuroo already awaiting your arrival under the sakura tree you reluctantly release his grasp.
"Hey Kuroo!" You yell out from across the way, waning your hand to and fro above your head.
Kenma gives a small wave and picks up his pace to match yours. Kuroo's head turns to the source of his name and spots you, while mimicking you your movements.
"Hey you guy's!" He yells out. Once you get closer and stand with him in the shade of the trees he speaks again.
"What did you want to talk about?"
You unconsciously bite your lip and shift your weight from side to side. Nerves are stopping you from saying what you've been mentally preparing for the whole way there. As you stand there trying to force the words to form you feel a warmth slipping into your hand. Kenma had placed his hand in yours, he was with you.
"Umm Kuroo, Kenma and I kinda want to start dating." You never look up as you speak, you just focus yours and Kenma's hands.
After a moment of silence you look up at the boy in front of you. He looks shocked but also, amused?
"Finally!" He suddenly bursts out. "I mean you two were so obvious, I was just waiting for you to finally figure it out."
He's laughing now and you almost take offence. You just had to muster up every last bit of courage you had to admit that and he was laughing! Assuming Kenma would be equally as embarrassed as you, you turn to face him only to find him silently chuckling.
"Whatever dummies." You say under your breath.
Well that was one person down, all that was left was to tell the rest of your families. Easy right?
