Chapter 2 - The accident

„WHAT!? Wait what happened"

The monitors started beeping faster. My heart was racing. I wanted to sit up but i couldn't. I got pushed back from my mum.

„Honey you have to stay calm. You had a car accident. Your rips were cracked and glass was sticking out of your stomach. I thought i'll lose you.", she said while sobbing quietly.

Memories of the accident came rushing back into my head.

I was driving on the snowy road. Singing to songs from Beyonce. And all of the sudden. „A DEER", i screamed. I pulled the steering wheel to my left. I crashed my car right into a tree. The last thing i remember is a stinging pain in my stomach. Than everything went black. 

Ringing in my ear. Lights. Black. Ringing. Blue and Red lights. Ringing. Black. And then i woke up. Well, only for some minutes befor falling back into the dark void.

I told my mum about the accident. That i remembered everything that happened. That i was sorry. She would tell me that it wasn't my fault but I still felt bad. I mean after all, i was the one who caused the accident. I was the invader in the deers living habitat. 

„Oh, good you're awake", said the doctor, as she entered my room. She looked really young, but she gave me the feeling as if she was doing her job her whole life. „How do you feel?" „Well my head spins like crazy, i still have a slight ringing in my ears, my vision is blurred and my stomach hurts like a thousand blades are being poked into my abdomen, but despite that, i'm great", i hissed, a hint of sarcasm in my voice. They both looked at me, speechless at my sudden comment. „I'm sorry it's just... I just... It's so much right now, like a moment before i was stuck inside my head, everythhing was black, and now suddenly i'm kind of living again and i just found out that i had an accident and that i almost died and that-„ But befor i was able to continue, my mum squeezed my hand as if she wanted to tell me that it is okay. I shut up immediatly, regretting my comment. I looked down, shame spreading across my face. „So I think you want to know what you have, right?", the doctor asked. I just nodded my head in agreement, not able to talk because of my stupid comment. „Well you, obviously, had an accident, as your Mother already told you and you had glass stuck in your abdomen, we think it was because oft he broken glass in the car, you were unconscious when we found you and we later found out that that was because of a concussion. You were out for two months. We were keeping you alive. Yesterday you have waken up all by your self, however it seemed as if you were in some kind of trance. We only knew you were awake becausse of your screams. As we ran to your room, the things next to your bed were going crazy. We than had to rush you back into the surgery room, because your wound reopened again", she informed, kind of as if i was a little kid who wouldn't understand what happened. I just sat there, kind of in shock of what happened. I turned to look at my mum, who gave me a weak smile. „When can i go home again?", i asked, breaking the uncomfortable silence. „We have to keep you here for some time, at least as long as we can be sure that your wound won't reopen again. If everything goes as planned, that means that you stay in bed and move as little as possible, you should be out again in about a week."

 After that, i thank her and she left the room, leaving my mum and me alone. „Was Jake here?", i asked my mum. Jake was my boyfiend for two years. The reason why we came together, was because we are both pretty quiet people. We aren't shy, but we don't talk alot either. We are kind of that type of people, who aren't shy, but don't like people talking to us. We just sit in silence, eating our meals. Hope and I were best friends since kindergarten. She would always try and talk me into partys, but i'd always reject. She is kind of the opposite of me. Talks more. In fact, she talks alot. I'm never quite sure if she would ever shut up. But one day Hope brought a boy to our table at lunch in school. I was really annoyed, i mean why would she want me to become friends with a complete stranger. But he was kind of cute. So Hope started talking and brought me into that convo once in a time. After some time he would come to our table and we would automatically start talking. He liked the same things as i do, so it was easy to start conversations. Wether it was about a book that we read, a movie that we watched, our favourite actors or just about how our day was going. It was fun. And eventually we started dating.

„Yes, he was here. Hope was here too, she came almost everyday. Ironically she never lost hope that you would wake up. Do you want me to call her that you are awake?", my mum told me. I told her that i can do this, it will be more fun to hear her reaction when she hears my voice.

So i called her.

"Hello?"

„Hope, Hi it's me, Aurora. I'm awake again."

„WHA- SINCE WHEN- I'M COMING STAY WHERE YOU ARE I'M ON MY WAY. JUST TELL ME WHERE YOU ARE", she practically screamed into her phone.

„Well, i woke up about an hour ago, but you know, the doctor came and eveerything so yeah, and i don't know you tell me where i'm supposed to be. I don't think i'm able to go outside yet. I'm still in the hospital", i laughed. She told me to wait and that she would be here in fifteen minutes, and then she hung up. I love that girl.
