I don't know how long we've been talking, but it seemed like time didn't matter to either of us.

I found out that Yang had lived in a small town called Patch, just on the outskirts of town. She lived there most her life, but she would visit here on most occasions to see her uncle Mr. Branwen.

I also found out about her semblance. She explained to me how when she was born, her mother said it was as if she were carrying fire in her stomach. And when she was born, her hair was on fire.

"It took the doctors a while to figure out that it was just my semblance" she said with a grin.

"Dad always said I would look like mom, and he wasn't wrong. Everyone says I look exactly like her, especially when I'm pissed" she continued.

"Why's that?" I asked, my brows furrowed.

She sighed. "Well, when I've reached a certain limit, my eyes change color. My mom's eyes are red, and so, when I'm mad, my eyes turn red, making me look exactly like her. Only problem is, my body sorta heats up and I become like.. A walking flame."

I looked at her amused. "Is that why you're always so warm?"

She laughed, a beautiful sound. "Partially. I'm like a walking heater."

I opened my mouth to speak, only to be stopped as a knock came at the door.

"C-come in!" I said.

The door opened to reveal my mom

"Honey, it's almost time for- Oh! You didn't tell me you had a friend over" she said as she looked between me and Yang.

Yang smiled and stood from my bed.

"Hello, sorry for not making it known I was here" she said as she walked over to my mom.

She reached out a hand and my mom gracefully took it.

"Yang Xiao Long, I just moved in next door" she spoked with a smile.

My mom's eyes seemed to sparkle at the mention of living next door.

"You must be one of Qrow's nieces, the oldest one correct?" Mom questioned.

"That would be me! Again, I apologize for not making my presence known, I was telling Blake some stories" Yang said rubbing the back of her neck nervously.

Mom grinned. "Nonesense, I'm Kali Belladonna, Blake's mom. Ghira will be home soon to eat with us, you girls wanna help?"

Yang looked over at me and I smiled and nodded.

The three of us made our way downstairs and to the kitchen. Mom had already had food and stuff on the counter.

"I hope you don't mind having fish tacos with rice" Mom said as she took out a pan.

"Not at all Mrs. Belladonna" Yang said as mom handed her a knife and cutting board.

"Please, Kali is fine. You and Blake get to cutting the vegetables, I'll heat the fish."

Mom handed me a knife along with two tomatoes while Yang had lettuce. We both began cutting the vegetables on different sides of the cutting board.

Yang looked like she was struggling to cut the lettuce and it made me laugh.

She nudged me with her elbow.

"What're you laughing at?" She asked with a small smile playing on her lips.

I shook my head. "Nothing, just seems like you suck at cutting" I teased.

Her hand shot to her chest as she faked being hurt. "My heart, my aching heart!"
