The Alpha's Mate

Emma's POV

It was Monday, my least favorite day of the week. I was headed my last class of the day, calculus. I'm not bad at it, I managed about a B+ each semester.

Once I got there I sat next to my best friend McKenna, whose also a wolf. Her father is the beta to my alpha father. Which means that we live right next door to each other. I have to admit I wouldn't be able to live without her. She's my rock and I can tell her literally EVERYTHING.

McKenna hasn't found her mate yet, which is okay because I haven't either.

I turned 16 over a year ago, and you're supposed to find your mate the day of your sixteenth birthday. McKenna and I were both extremely disappointed, because we share a birthday and we both didn't find our mates.

We both just turned 17 last month, we had a huge party at my house and invited everyone in our senior class.

I'm the girl who's friends with everyone, the populars, jocks, emos, band geeks, nerds, artists, and musicians. Literally EVERYONE. I have NO enemies, which is good because this year is all about getting into a good college and maybe even finding my mate - hopefully.

I do have a crush and his name Jaren. He's the sweetest guy I know, we've been talking for awhile now, but I don't think it's going anywhere. But it's okay because I'm saving all my love for my mate.

My dream is to find my mate, get married, and have children. Three to be exact. I just hope that's what he wants. Even if that's the opposite of what he wants, I could never reject him.

It was 3 minutes until the bell and I couldn't wait to get home and change so I could go to the mall with McKenna and Blake. (Blake is my gay best friend.)

Next thing I knew the bell was ringing and people were frantically scurrying to there cars. I stopped at my locker and grabbed my bag, then walked out to my cherry red convertible mustang. Because my parents are head of the biggest pack in the world, they were also the richest. I'm not saying I'm spoiled, but I usually get what I want. Only because I work for it. Like my father says, "If you decline your duties, the store declines your card." I thought it was a pretty stupid saying, but it kept me in line.

I always do my duties as the alphas only child.

Being his only child means that I get to become alpha some day.

It's a lot of responsibility, but I'll be ready.

By the time I got home it was about 4:00 so I went upstairs and hopped in the shower. When I got out I went to my closet and grabbed a white t-shirt, my black leather jacket, a pair of dark skinny jeans, and a pair of black ankle boots. I always dress nice just in case I meet my mate while I'm out.

I ran downstairs to the kitchen to grab a snack, while I waited for McKenna and Blake to get here.

About half an hour later they both showed up in Blake's Cadillac. (Blake is also a wolf.)

We drove to the mall while Sledgehammer by Fifth Harmony blared through the speakers. We all sang along, screaming the lyrics at the top of our lungs.

When we got to the mall we went into every store and looked around.

I ended up with a pair of purple ballet flats, a light gray cashmere sweater, a pair of high-waisted denim shorts, and a blood red, skin tight mini-dress that Blake insisted I at least try on. Bottom line I ended up loving it and buying it, even though it was $480!

After that we all went back to my place to watch my favorite movies ever, Step Up, Step Up 2 the Streets, Step Up 3D, Step Up Revolution, and Step Up: All In. It may sound crazy but I've always wanted to be a dancer, I've taken classes since I was 7 but nobody knows. Not even McKenna and Blake. Truth is I've gotten really good. Top of my class.

After McKenna and Blake left I took another shower and put on some shorts and a tank top and got in bed. I fell asleep thinking about finding my mate and growing old with him...
