The first day I saw him at school l, I missed all the obvious glaring signs of poverty surrounding him. His jacket and t-shirt were frayed and looked like they have been washed and rewashed a million times to such an extent that the material has given up on itself. The shoes he was wearing were a little bit gaping openly and his sock covered toes were peeping a little bit.
I didn't notice any of that. It was after that I did notice and honestly it didn't change anything. That soul crushing mind numbing connection I felt for him was even worse when I realized his living conditions and his life after school.
I loved him more for the life he has endured until he was brought into my life. Our souls connected and that was it, signed and sealed. I belonged to him and he belonged to me, two pieces of a whole, the ying to my yang: my other half.
