i got home from the coffee shop and saw my mom sitting at the counter,
i couldn't love him,
love is not real,
"hi dear, where were you?" Mom asks.
"coffee shop," i say in a choked voice.
"what's wrong?" she asks standing up.
"mom is love real?" i ask trying not to cry.
"of course it is," she says. "sit down,"
i sat down on the couch next to her,
"have you ever been in love?" i ask.
"yes, with your father, and then before him, long time ago, with a man, he was a summer thing." she says.
"what happened?" i ask sitting up now invested in the story.
"my parents didn't approve. so i had to let him go, worst mistake i've ever made, but then i met your father." she says.
"what happened to the guy?" i ask.
"don't know, haven't heard or seen from him in years." she says. "but, if you do love someone, you can't let them go."
i feel tears swell in my eyes, i burst into tears. my mother hugs me,
"i don't love him," i say to myself.
"who?" she asks.
"Louis," i whisper.
Louis POV
i don't love her,
not now, not anymore.
i can't love her,
someone knocks on my door,
"go away," i say.
"no," i look up and see Millie standing in my doorway. "Issie told me,"
"of course she did," i say.
"why do you care if you love her?" she asks.
"because she can't love me back," i say.
"you'll never know if you don't try," she says.
"what is that supposed to mean?" i ask.
"go tell her," she says.
"no, i can't, she freaked out when i told her i used to love her and she'll definitely freak out if i tell her i do love her." i say.
