Iwaizumi's POV
My fiancé groaned when the doorbell went off. He climbed off of me while I got up and pulled on a shirt to get the door. We both knew who it was, but it was Toru's idea to get into it so close to the time.
"Hi Uncle Hajime!" Ayumu shouted while in his dad's arms. I smiled faintly and took him from Hanamaki.
"Thanks for watching him."
"Sure thing. When will you be picking him up?"
"I should be able to pick him up around 10."
"Alright. I'll see you then." I said, Hanamaki giving Ayumu a kiss on the cheek goodbye before leaving. Toru shut the door and smiled, taking the little boy from my arms.
"Well how is my favorite not-actually-but-we-consider-you-nephew doing!" Toru asked with a smile. Ayumu laughed happily and held onto Toru.
"I'm good mister Toru!"
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. When are you and Uncle Hajime getting married??" Ayumu asked, flopping back a bit. Toru grinned at me and answered his questions.
Ayumu didn't call Toru "uncle", at least not now. I honestly think that my fiancé taught Ayumu to call me uncle so he could make fun of me and call me old. But I didn't mind. He was gonna be the one marrying me.
That Evening: Hanamaki's POV
"It's itchy.."
"Well what do you want me to do?"
"Uh, let me wear what I'd like?"
"It's a fine dining restaurant, Hanamaki. Besides. That's a top-quality suit." Matsukawa said, helping me adjust the collar of the dress shirt. I bit my tongue and just put up with it. After Matsukawa turned and walked off, I sighed and reminded myself that this was to show him how much I appreciate him.
After we arrived at that new restaurant, we were sat together and served. It was a very nice restaurant, I had no doubt that it wouldn't be, but, I still would have preferred to go out somewhere more private. It was absolutely crowded here because of the opening.
"Matsukawa?"
"Mm?"
"Uhm... So, maybe tomorrow night... I was wondering if we could-"
"Issei, Hanamaki, so wonderful to see you both here!" Matsukawa's dad said suddenly as he walked over. I looked up at him as he smiled at us.
"Hi, dad." Matsukawa said as his dad sat with us.
"How are you both doing?"
"We're doing good."
"Wonderful! I would like to invite you both over for a charity event tomorrow night." He said with a smile. I glanced up at Matsukawa, hoping that he'd decline, but he didn't.
"Sure, dad. What time?"
"I'll send someone to come pick you both up. Be ready by 6." He said before leaving. Matsukawa nodded and looked at me when I sighed.
"What."
"...I was hoping that tomorrow night we could maybe do something together."
"We would be doing something together."
"Yeah, but, I meant something together. In private."
"Why?"
"......What do you mean why!?" I said a bit angrily, the volume of my voice drawing a little bit of attention, including from Matsukawa's father.
"Shh. Come on let's take this outside." He said, grabbing my wrist and dragging me outside. Once we were outside, I pulled my arm away and sighed, crossing my arms.
"What is so wrong with wanting to have an evening in private with you?"
"I tried having a private evening with you last night!"
"No, you tried having sex with me last night. I mean just, a nice date somewhere alone. Without having your parents or a bunch of fancy rich people around us." I said a bit frustrated, Matsukawa sighing and placing his hands on my waist.
"Come on baby, let's go back inside and-"
"No, I wanna talk about it here."
"Can't we talk about it at home?"
"Why? Why can't we talk about it right now?"
"Well, we're standing right outside of a restaurant that my father helped make."
"Okay, and?"
"...And, he has a lot of family friends and other relatives here to eat."
"Okay. And??"
"...They don't need to see us arguing."
"And why not? Couples argue, all the time. And it isn't like we're arguing inside where they can hear us!"
"Yes, but they can see us."
"Matsukawa, why did you ask me to date you?"
"I've told you why before."
"Well I want the real reason." I said, Matsukawa suddenly not saying much. I sighed, shaking my head and leaning against the wall. I don't understand why he bothered asking me out.
Yeah he had told me it was because he liked me, and I believed that. But, not so much anymore. Maybe I let my loneliness get the best of me and I ended up... falling for this guy. I had to admit that he was handsome, and he acted nice enough when we were alone.. I'm not sure why, but, Ayumu seemed to decently like him too.
"Matsukawa, why do we always have to go out in front of a crowd? I don't want to argue... I just, all I ask is that we can go out together in private for once. I mean our first 'date', we were surrounded by your family. Our second date, surrounded by family friends, third date, your mom hovered, and now we're here at a restaurant with your dad and all his friends and guests."
"......Alright.... Alright... I promise, we will go out together, wherever you would like to go. But please, let's go back inside and enjoy our evening. And go to the charity event for my family tomorrow. Okay?" Matsukawa said, pulling me closer and giving my forehead a kiss.
I let out a small sigh, taking in a deep breath. The cold air and scent of Matsukawa's cologne filling my lungs. I was just... tired. He was my boyfriend. And I just wanted to be happy with him.
"Hanamaki?" He said gently, brushing his fingers through my hair. I looked up at him, getting a soft kiss.
"Yeah..?"
"I love you, so please, let's not argue. Yeah?"
"...Yeah."
