Chapter 3

- Are you crazy? – He was furious. He never had yelled at her before. But now…was necessary!

- What?! I wanna have kids… and I know you want too! Why not try again? – Agatha said, trying to calm down her husband. It wasn’t going very well!

- The last time you almost died! Do you know how much blood did you lost? How…how…close you were to death?! How much pain I felt for you and for our six unborn? Do you know what are you asking for Agatha?! – Achilles said, trying not to show his pain.

- I want a child of ours! I want to see our next generation Agapí, it’s more than that actually... I need to! Don’t you understand?

- Are you seriously asking me that?! If I under…. For the love of gods Agatha! You can doubt everything, but not this! The one, in this story, who doesn’t understand is you! How much pain I suffer for the last four years! How much fear I felt, just thinking, that I could lose you too?! How disappointed I was, when all our children died, with you…- He stooped. – That was not what I meant. I’m so sorry…so sorry! - He tried to touch her with his hand, but she moved away from his touch.

- I understand. You say what you want and I have to obey. You don’t what a child, so… I have to do what you want. And I understand…really I do. – She said with a small voice. -  It’s too bad that you married a rebel! Because…let me tell you something… - she looked into his eyes -  I’m not going to stop dreaming just because you’re too afraid, I’m not like that and you know that… you knew that when you married me! I know you want this too, I can see it! In your eyes! Mark my words, we’re not going to have a child! We’re going to have children! – She left the room and Achilles alone in their bedroom.

The gods had left them, all the sacrifices that she made, non-of them had been answered. For years, she and her husband did sacrifices, they never gave up, but now was hard to keep the faith.

-        -   Dáskalos Agatha! Do you need anything? – Naeva asked. Agatha was in the kitchen, not because she wanted but her feet did all the work.

-        -   Dáskalos…do you need anything? – Naeva asked again. She looked to her Dáskalos. She was so palled, and surprise, like she didn't know how she got in the kitchen. – You don’t look very well. Let me get you some water.

While Naeva went to get water, Agatha sat down in a small wooden chair in front of the table that had the vegetables and meat for dinner. She looked around the room, the candles illuminated the kitchen, and the fire, that was waiting to cook the food, was the source of  heat.

-         -  Here Dáskalos. – Naeva put the glass with water in the table. Agatha try to grab it, but she was shaking, she couldn’t control her hand. – You’re shaking. You’re sha... are you in pain?! Again?! I’m going to call Dáskalos Achilles to help you… - She was terrified. She hated to see her in pain. When Naeva tried to run upstairs, Agatha grab her hand.

-           - No….there’s no need Naeva. I’m…I’m fine. There’s no need to call Achilles. It’s because of him that I’m like this! Please sit. – Naeva pull another wooden chair and sat down. She didn’t want to, but she knew that arguing with Agatha was a waste of time. That woman always won their arguments. – Do you have a dream Naeva? – Agatha looked into Naeva’s face. She looked surprised with the question. – You don’t have to be afraid. Answer honestly. Do you have a dream? – She said with a smile on her face, a fake one, but still a smile.

-           - I don’t know Dáskalos. I guess I’m not allowed to dream since I became Doulús. – She said, trying not to say anything stupid.
