Ben's First Proclamation

A young girl, around 16, with mid-back length blonde hair and sparkling ocean blue eyes was sitting in her best friend's room, helping him with his first proclamation as soon-to-be-king. Prince Benjamin, son of Belle and the Beast, was staring out the window at a hunk of rock and garbage in the far sea. His best friend, Princess Clara Charming, daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming, was laying on his bed with a bunch of files and a notebook in front of her with a pen in hand.

"So, how many do you want to start off with Benny?" Clara asks him.

Ben pulls his attention away from the window and joins Clara at looking at the files. "I was thinking of the kids that needed our help the most," he informs, moving the files around.

After searching through the files they decided on the son of Jafar, the daughter of the Evil Queen, the son of Cruella De Vil, and the daughter of Maleficent. A couple years ago, Clara's parents announced that she was the next ruler of their kingdom, making her brother, Chad Charming, hate her more and further pushing her into his shadow. Clara and Ben's other friend, Ella Frost - daughter of the former Queen of Arendelle and Jack Frost, is going to be the future fifth spirit of Atohallan. Ella's cousin, Kristopher Oldenburg - son of Queen Anna of Arendelle and Kristoph, is going to become King of Arendelle. While Ben is getting crowned King in a month, Kristopher and Clara decided to wait until they graduate Auradon Prep while Clara's cousin, Jonathon Fairy - son of Fairy Godmother, is his royal advisor.

After helping Ben with deciding on the four villain kids they still had time before he had to get to a fitting for his coronation so they hung out in his room when Jonathom walked in. "Hey Clare. Ben. Have you decided on your first proclamation yet?" He asked Ben after greeting them and sitting in a nearby chair.

Ben nodded and turned to look at his royal advisor while Clara kept sketching a new design in her sketchbook. "Yes, I did. I decided to give the children on the Isle of the Lost to be given a chance to have a life here in Auradon."

Jonathon smiled and nodded his approval, "I say go for it. Have you decided on who you want to bring over?" He asked. Ben smiled back, gratefully and told him the plan.

Ben was standing on a platform, getting fitted for coronation by Lumiere while Jonathon and Clara were sitting on the couch. She was still sketching when Belle and King Adam walked into the room. "How is it possible that you're going to be crowned king next month? You're still a baby!" King Adam said while Jonathon and Clara stood up from the couch.

"He's turning sixteen, dear," Belle defended her son and Clara smiled at her. "Hello Clare. John," she greeted us.

"Hello Belle," John and Clara greeted her while Ben greeted his father.

"Hey, Pops."

"Sixteen? That's far too young to be crowned king. I didn't make a good decision until I was at least 42," Beast said, making the young girl laugh and make a remark.

"Didn't you decide to marry Belle when you were 28?" She asked innocently. Belle looked at her with a nod, saying that she was correct before she gave her husband an offended look.

"It was either her or a teapot," Beast said, jokingly, making the three kids laugh. "Kidding," he assured Belle when he saw the look his wife was giving him.

"Mom, dad-" Ben started to move but Lumiere stopped him so she stood up in his original position. "I've chosen my first official proclamation...with thr help of Clare and the acceptance of John, of course," he said.

Ben looked at his best friend and she have him a nod, letting him know that she's with him all the way. He took a deep breath and spoke, "I've decided that the children on the Isle of the Lost be giving a chance to live here in Auradon."

Clara smiled, proud of Ben, and looked at the shocked looks on Belle's and King Adam's faces. "Every time I look out to the island, I feel like they've been abandoned," Ben explained while stepping off the platform.

"And trust me, he looks out at the island a lot," Clara said, finally speaking up with Jonathon backing her up with a nod of agreement.

"The children of our sworn enemies, living among us?" Beast asked, almost in disbelief.

"Clara helped me pick out a few to start off with. The ones that needed our help the most."

Beast glanced at her then looked over at his son, "Have you?" He asked, taking a step forward before Belle graves his wrist to hold him back.

"I gave you a second chance," she reminded him before looking back at the Charming girl and her son as they stood next to each other. "Who are their parents?" She asked.

Clara smiled lightly, "I chose the daughter of the Evil Queen and son of Jafar," she replied, bracing herself for Adam's reaction to Ben's reply.

"And I chose the son of Cruella de Vil and the daughter of...Maleficent," Ben said, standing tall while Clara and Jonathon braced themselves.

Lumiere gasped, shocked, and quickly ran out of the room and shut the doors behind him from fear. "Maleficent!" Ben's father roared. "She is the worst villain in the land!"

"Dad, just hear me out here," Ben tried to talk it through with him.

"They are guilty of unspeakable crimes."

"Dad, their children are innocent. Don't you think they deserve a shot at a normal life?" Ben asked, trying to get his point across.

After a moment of silence, Adam gave in with a sigh, "I suppose their children are innocent," he agreed.

"Well done," Belle complimented her son, fixing his jacket before leaving with Adam.

They app let out a breath of relief before Clara hugged Ben with a huge grin while Jonathon patted his back. "Good job, Benny," she said.

"We're with you all the way," Jonathon reminded him before checking the time. "Now if you excuse me...I have a date to get to," he explained, making the blonde female laugh.

"Tell Ella I said hi!" She called after him when he left.

A/N: 1,075 words. This is the first Descendants book I've written so the first chapter may not be as good but just bear with me. I decided to write this just because Descendants is my favorite series and to also commemorate Cameron Boyce's death from a year and a half ago.

RIP Cameron.
