GAIA DURAS ONCE LIVED amongst the trees. Born to the green, to the grass and the petals and the leaves, the Earth afforded her sanctuary from the despair and darkness of a dying society. But the war was sure to reach them eventually, shatter the bliss which they lived within, burn the forest to ash and bone. All she'd known and all which had comforted her over the years laid to waste by bombs and darkness.
She'd only been a child, then. Fifteen, she thinks, but she can never be sure, now. She doesn't dwell on it beyond the beauty she recalls. Of the rainbow among the leaves and the rivers that ran like liquid crystal. Of the love she'd found there. As permanent as an ancient oak tree or the stars in the sky.
But, soon, she'd realised that trees, they fall. And the stars, they fade when the sunshine comes.
When her husband — the man she'd loved since she was sixteen, bright-eyed and carefree, dancing through the sunshine — had died, stolen by the same danger that had forced them from the trees, the world had seemed hopeless.
But new trees, they take root and grow, stronger than before. And the stars return as beautiful as ever, hidden but never gone. Always there to watch over them. To keep them safe.

a/n: so from what i recall we don't know anything about the backstory of the world in which prospect takes place, so i just decided i would create my own backstory for things. so it's technically an au since i'm adding in backstory, even though i do stick to the same plot of the movie; don't hold it against me if they make a sequel like they want to and they have a different backstory for why things are the way they are lmao
