Chris Chan is our generation's Rob Liefeld
Considering that Liefeld's art has become the standard for bad superhero and comics art, from time to time you have people coming up with the next generation Liefeld. But if professionals like Greg Land and the late Michael Turner might pale in comparison to Liefeld's inepitude maybe someone else in another field would match him. I'm thinking a lot about the infamous Chris Chan and why he's a close match with Liefeld in many ways save for their own circumstances and Chris's autism. Both of them are into popstars as Rob Liefeld looked up to Madonna and Chris admired Britney Spears, who is coincidentally Madge's successor of sorts. Both of them are infamous for their unoriginality and plagiarism. Rob Liefeld not only plagiarises other sources and comics but his own characters are pretty unoriginal themselves. Youngblood was a combination of his earlier project of the same name and a proposal for DC's Teen Titans. Chris Chan's most famous work is a combination of Sonic the Hedgehog and Pokemon's Pikachu which also included references to many other anime franchises such as Dragon Ball and Yu Yu Hakusho. Both of them can act immature for their age but in Liefeld's part, that's pretty embarrassing for a professional. Most importantly they are criticised for their terrible storytelling and equally terrible art. Theirs are terrible enough to inspire parodies. Even if Liefeld isn't as autistic and stupid as Chris is but if he was born in the 1980s he would've done something similar given the numerous criticisms around him.
Other than Chris's autism, their own circumstances are pretty different. When Liefeld entered the comics industry during the 1980s, the Internet was a more insular medium restricted only to those who can afford to own and use a computer. He used to work for a lesser known publisher shortly before working for DC and then Marvel. Shortly after working for Marvel, he and his chums formed Image Comics. Chris Chan had strong intentions of turning his webcomic into a franchise but arguably he began his Internet career around the time when the Internet and computers were quickly becoming accessible to millions of people. He began his first website in the late 1990s sometime before creating the infamous Sonichu. But it's not hard to see someone who could rival Liefeld in sheer badness even if s/he came from another field altogether. However in this case Chris had so many similarities to Liefeld where it can be said that Chris Chan is the Rob Liefeld of webcomics even if there are webcomics cartoonists out there who are as bad or even worse than he is. Given what I said about Liefeld being in Chris's position if he was younger it wouldn't surprise anyone to see parallels between the two.
