tw : rape, sexual assault, murderif you haven't been following the news or what's going on in social media, hundreds of thousands of women are coming out to announce they have been sexually assaulted or raped because of Sarah Everard. Sarah was only walking home (wearing bright colors, on the phone with her boyfriend, walking through well-lit streets; all the things to catch other peoples' eyes just in case something bad happened) when she was abducted, raped, and MURDERED by a London police officer (acab). she was only trying to get home.
male police officers at her memorial (idk what to call it) are also abusing women who try to get past them and staying put past the 6pm curfew.Sarah's story is yet another example of how the people who we are supposed to call on for help cannot help us anymore.
and calling ubers don't work either; a 16-year-old girl was raped in the backseat of an uber in 2017. she was hospitalized.97% of women have been sexually assaulted. 97% of women weren't safe because of their sex. it's not "well what was she wearing," "she was asking for it," "it's not my fault," 🔫💥💥. MEN are the problem. MEN are why we're told to cover up and keep ourselves safe. just educate your animalistic sons for god's sake.
another (minor) example of men being bad is instagram. girls' stories are filled with posts sharing information and reposting slides of why everything is all sucky rn but the boys are sharing things like 'happy st. patrick's day ☘️🤪💚' or nfl highlights or just nothing at all. the silence is too loud 😐. all the boys from my school are dead to me lol 🥳🥳.
but please men, do better. learn about the horrors women experience on a daily basis because it's normalized. 40% of men have been raped and it's not your fault either.
if you have more information than i (this is all off the top of my head and im in class rn), please lmk by commenting :)
love you all, havana
