"Alex?!"

"Uh, hi, Will. How... How are you?"

"How am I? How are you? Where have you been? You disappeared off the face of the planet!"

"I know. I'm sorry." She heard him sigh. She hadn't noticed, but Evelien had gotten up and was heading inside. She smiled at her, muttering a quiet thank you.

"Did you? Did you make it like you said you would?" His voice sounded exactly like her father's, and she had to stop herself from thinking that he was her father.

"I think so. I... I mean... I don't know." She heard him chuckle, his laugh the same even after seven years.

"Where are you, Alex? Where'd you disappear to?"

"I live in San Diego now, but I used to live in L.A."

"You moved to L.A?" His voice sounded sad.

"Yeah. Remember I mentioned a girl named Rae to mum that day?" He hummed. "I moved in with her. She flew me out and gave me a place to stay." She hesitated. "What have you been up to?" He ignored the question.

"I want to say something, Alex." His voice changed only slightly, but she noticed. "About that day. I never would have said that if I knew it would cause you to walk out."

"I... I know. It wasn't you though, Will. I needed to get out of that house. I couldn't stay there anymore." She paused. "Did you ever get out?"

"Yeah... I went to College. For acting." Will had always said he'd go to college for acting. When he was ten years old, he saw his first live play and decided that's what he wanted to do.

"That's great, Willy. I'm proud of you." He chuckled. "Where are you now? Do you still live with... them?"

"No. I... I moved out just before college." He chuckled. "I live in L.A."

"What!? You live three hours away from me?!" Her mood instantly perked up, but she tried to calm herself. "If you're ever up for it, you can come down and see me. I know my friends would want to meet you."

"Really? You... Do you want really to see me? Even after what I said?"

"Will. You're my brother. It doesn't matter what you said seven years ago. I love you." She paused hearing him sniff. "The reason I didn't contact you before is I thought you wouldn't want to see me... I thought you were angry at me for leaving."

"I mean... Yeah. I kind of was since you left me alone with them, but I understood why. Even my fourteen-year-old self could understand why you wanted out. I was okay." Alexis smiled. Her brother had always been the forgiving type. She wondered why she thought he'd actually hate her in the first place.

"You know... A bunch of my friends are here for a few days. You can come down and meet them... But only if you want to!"

"Will they like me?" She chuckled.

"I think they'll love you. If you decide to come down, I can get you a hotel room, or I can set up a cot in my living room." He chuckled.

"I think that would be awesome."

The two continued to talk, setting up plans for Will to drive down the next day. Both of them were nervous, but for two different reasons. Will was nervous because he hadn't seen his sister in over seven years. And Alexis was nervous because him coming down would mean she'd have to tell all her friends about him.
