There were still times when I had to touch his face just to convince myself that the young man with such, extremely beautiful face was real, and belongs to me.

His response to such a compliment was to shake his head in disgust, pull me even tighter in his side while raking a hand through his curls and saying:

“ for the love of all the god mistress! When are you going to outgrow such, foolish nonsense? I never find your appearance anything less than a thing of beauty to behold.

Of course it is only fitting that you are my mate and not any other.”

Such words never failed to make melt.

Mark wasn’t much in being a sweet guy who always express his feelings using poetry or flowery speeches but when speaks, it goes straight for the heart.

Just like the other night when everyone was finished unwrapping their presents and had retired to their rooms to sleep. I sneaked off to Mark’s room as was my routine of late.

( since it was impossible for Mark to do the same without rousing Gab and Karen to wake.)

He was already sitting on the edge of the bed, the lights were all turned down except for the overnight lamp on his bedside table.   He had taken the coral blue sweatshirt oiff and was clad in his silk white night shirt. The one I’ve especially chosen while we were still inParisand I had given him tonight as my Christmas gift.

He caught me admiring it and surprised me by gesturing for me to come to his side.

I did so, pleased that he was being exceptionally tolerable.

His gaze immediately found the golden necklace he gave me earlier.

It was just the right length to be noticed and tuck hidden beneath your shirt if the situation warranted, with a matching golden pendant of two wings unfurling, in the middle binding them together was a pea-sized diamond.  One look at it and you’d  know that it cost a fortune.

In Mark’s case it probably cost a great deal more.\he had suddenly fingered the wings, examining it this way and that between his fingers, the way a man who had just recently bought a house might, his eyes running over it critically that I spoke to allay whatever doubts he must be having:

“ boy, that sure is one, pretty necklace you might have gone through such pains just to get that.”   At first he didn’t answer, he didn’t even turn his head my way to let me know he’d heard.  I kept silent, not wanting to interrupt his private musings when he broke the silence,

“ Yes, but it pales in comparison when placed beside its owner does it not?”

My surprised laugh was accentuated by a perfect imitation of his snort but then stopped abruptly as a bothersome thought struck me.

I laid the back of my hand to his forehead, to the hollow of his neck, he caught me by the wrist before I could reach further.

“ Angie, I’m not sick, drunk or any of the things you think I’m suffering under,  those are mortal ailments and thus, does not affect our kind, I am a little offended. that you’d think I’d have such weakness when I always consider myself as superior.

“ yeah, right. And I’m supposed to believe that you just actually gave me a compliment and meant it seriously?”

Are you implying that I’m a liar? Came his indignant voice in my head.

“so you’re not bluffing or flattering me?” I countered,

He cupped my chin and tugged it close so that only a few inch separated our faces from bumping, he had asked,

“ do I look like I’m bluffing mistress?”

“ No,” I finally managed to get the words out without fainting or hyperventilating which were always a dangerous possibility whenever he fixes those emerald green eyes right at me.

Without so much as a word, he pulled me down along with him on the bed, so that me head rested on his chest. His arm which wasn’t wrapped around me moved to pull the blankets over my chin.  He slowly buried his face on the crown of my head.

“ Angie, my stubborn naïve little mistress, what would you have me do to convince once and for all, that you aren’t the plain, uniteresting creature you mistakenly see yourself as

---but someone who possess something much , more precious than the deceiving surface beauty I find so tirelessly common to other mortal women?” each word was punctuated by feather soft kisses he was raining on my head, to my brows, cheeks and the edge of my mouth.

I nearly moaned when he gently ried my lips apart and with the same tenderness, his tongue moved hungrily and with such an urgency I’ve never sensed in him before.

It was as if he desperately yearned for me to kiss him as much as I did him.

My hands moved of their own accord to trace on the hard contours of his back, to his sculpted shoulders. I felft him sucked in a deep breath when my fingers started to unbutton his shirt, that was as far as I got--- he had me rolled beneath him in a heartbeat.

His eyes were blazing a light purple again, but unlike before we it was filled with barely contained desire. If the hardness pressing against my thighs were any  indication---I knew how aroused he was.

Fear and excitement made the pounding in my ears grow louder.

He couldn’t possibly hurt me. I wasn’t so much of a fool to even entertain such an idea.

What I was afraid of was not providing him with the kinf satisfaction he was clearly looking forward to having with me.

I mean, what if I did something stupid and clumsy that I’d ruin everything for him just like I usually do? I wanted more than anything to give myself to him, felt like I would have did there and then, if he didn’t  do anything more than nip and nibble my body, which lay half exposed to his sight as he peeled the hand-knitted sweater off me and I was bared to the waist.

You are perfect in every way, a mate any vampire would die to have and a temptation I’m not sure I can resist any longer,  he growled right into my mind as he placed another liquid kiss on my mouth.

And I would kill anyone who would ever dare to say otherwise. His breath grazed the sensitive flesh around my stomach, and I shivered with anticipation when his fingers touched the belt buckle on my jeans.
