I knew I was busted when the police turned up at the lake. It was the back to school party, an annual party that is held at the lake just 5 kilometres out of town and being a senior this year it is number one on the priorities list. But before too long, the party was shut down and all those who were left -including me- had their parents called to come pick us up. I'm guessing that someone has call about a noise complaint and of course with nothing to do in this town the police are straight on to it. I was sitting half drunk on a bench, where I was to wait till my mother came or I was to spend the night at the station for underage drinking. As I saw officer Stan in the crowd of officers shutting down the party, I put my head between my legs so that he doesn't recognize me. It wasn't until I felt like I was going to throw up that I lifted my head and saw that Officer Stan Sterling walked towards me.
"Lyra, why do you keep doing this?" he said sitting down next to me. "I know that it is tough but you can't keep doing this to your mother."
"Don't tell me what I should be doing, what I do is none of your business," I said putting my head back between my legs again.
"I know that you and dad are-" he said putting his on my back.
"Don't you dear talk about him!" I said getting up putting my hands up, I saw in the corner of my eyes two officers moving closer when I lost it. "You don't get to talk about him."
Just then I heard my name get called. "Lyra, where are you?" Riley came out of the shadows. "Where did you go? You were like beside my side and then you were gone"
"Ri," I said running towards him. "Let's go to your place, I can't go home, Mum will have me for breakfast"
"Quickly, before they see that your gone," he said putting his arm around my waist as he pulled me towards that shadows of the trees, his place wasn't that far from here.
"Lyra!" I could hear Stan call out.
"Where are you two going?" someone said shinning a light in our eyes.
"Home," Riley said impolitely.
"Back to the lake and wait for your parents you two," the officer said shinning his flash light towards the lake.
I cupped Riley's face with my hands and kissed him as his arms wrapped around me I pulled myself towards him. I pulled away when he was pulled away from me. Ri and I were dragged down to the lake where there was a load of cars parked. "Babe," I said pulling down on Riley's arm so I could whisper in his ear, "Meet me at my place, I'll climb out the window meet me about two houses down, like we usually do." I said kissing his cheek, before we were separated. Before too long Stanley found me.
"Lyra, where did you go?" he said grabbing me arm pulling me towards the parked cars, "Your mother isn't coming to get you,"
"Oh goodie, not like she would bother," I said pulling my arm out of his grip, "Does this mean I am free to go? Not that this concerns you but I actually have plans and that doesn't involve going home anytime soon, or are you going to take me home" I said turning around pushing myself close to him.
"Yes I am, but you will be watched, so you don't start anything." He said pushing me in a cop car.
"Aww, no fair, ever since you became a cop you have just become so boring." I said with a puppy dog face. "Want some of this?" I said pulling out the weed that I stole from Riley.
Stanley snatched it out of my hand before anyone else could see it, "Lyra, why do you have this? This is illegal." He said pushing me into the car.
