He swallowed his first breath of freedom once he reached at the hospital. He couldn't adhere to believe Atsumu didn't tell him that he was warded. Besides, hearing from his homeroom teacher that he got hit by a car made him run all away after school.
He didn't let his panting ceased. He paced himself into the reception counter, searched for the Atsumu's room aftermath. Once he arrived at Atsumu's room, he was able to hear Atsumu laughing cheerfully with someone else.
When he succeeded to recognize the person beside Atsumu, his heart ached a little. It was Shoyo, who made Atsumu laugh. Why he was telling Shoyo and not him was the first question on his mind. Is Atsumu decided to push him after breaking up?
He kept staring impatiently from the threshold, waited for Shoyo to come out. However, his eyes went enlarged when he saw Shoyo took out a ring from his finger and put it on Atsumu's finger. Atsumu doesn't react to it, causing Sakusa irritated a bit.
Sakusa quickly hid when Shoyo walked out through the door. He clenched his fist and breathed out. As soon as Shoyo disappeared, he stepped into the room.
Klak!
"Shoyo-" A glimpsed of Sakusa incited Atsumu to turn his face away from him.
"Miya," he called.
"H-hey." It was unusual for Atsumu to stutter; however, Sakusa noticed.
"May I sit?"
"Not that I can say no, right? Kidding, if course."
"You're not gonna look at me?"
Sakusa began to aware of his own heartbeat when Atsumu gradually turned his head faced Sakusa. His stomach was twitched, witnessed his friend in a different state that he used to see.
Atsumu looked different. His eyelids droop (ptosis), the front part of his hair seemed thinner and his cheeks sunken. Are you okay? was the question that screamed in Sakusa's head but he said nothing.
Their eyes met but Atsumu broke it off and snapped his head to the side when realizing Sakusa was froze at his place. This is why he didn't want to face Sakusa earlier. Clearly, he felt surprised to see how awful he looked at that time.
The tension in the room at that moment was physically and emotionally dreadful for both of them. Atsumu scoffed.
"What's happening?" Sakusa asked, eyes still locked onto Atsumu.
"It's a long story, but it's okay. I'm fine."
"Are you sure?"
"I can see you're sweating. Do you run to get here?"
"Apparently, yes," Sakusa replied monotonously. Atsumu fell silent. He doesn't know how exactly to react. It was a joke, to begin with. "Oh.."
The black eyes glanced over two rings sheathed on Atsumu's ring finger. Did Shoyo reject him?
"The ring is pretty. Did Shoyo give it to you?" He demanded purposely. He swallowed his excessive saliva, patiently waiting for the answer.
"No. I bought this for us."
Sakusa's heart plummed, he didn't expect that to come.
"So, how are you?" Atsumu's turned to ask.
Bad.
"Normal. How about you?" The same question returned to Atsumu.
Bad.
"Same here."
They eyed each other. Silence. Neither of them said anything. Both of them have unspoken words; I miss you.
Sakusa snapped from his muse when he smelled something funny. Therefore, he tried to find the smell but then his eyes fall down to Atsumu's wet blanket.
"Miya..."
Atsumu eyes went enlarged. He tried to cover the wet place with some tissues behind him. Sakusa just quieted down. He could see Atsumu was panicked. He didn't understand. Is that urine?
"C-can you please get out and call for a doctor? I'm sorry."
"W-wh-" Sakusa attempted to come near, but Atsumu forfeited him. He was dumbfounded as ever.
"Please don't come over. I'm dirty." Atsumu pretended to be calm, but his shaky voice was too obvious to hide.
"Please don't say that."
"P-please... I'm embarrassed. I don't want you to see me in this state... Please, listen to me." His body was bent forward a little, tried to hide his miserable face as hard as he could. At this moment, his tears might disobeyed him.
"Atsumu." Sakusa took off his mask instantly and another movement was made.
"Please go!! Please! I'm dirty. Don't come near. Please..." His voice cracked.
He cupped his ears with his hands. His body was trembling. Even so, he was still begging Sakusa to leave. He didn't want Sakusa to see him in this condition. He was afraid that Sakusa will felt disgusted with him.
Sakusa swayed to Atsumu when he saw Atsumu was quivered. His breath is a rattle in his chest as he held Atsumu's arm tightly. His glassy eyes had blurred the vision in front of him.
"What is happening to you, Atsumu?" Sakusa's voice was unsteady. He was panicked witnessing Atsumu in that state. He didn't want to leave even a second.
"I-I'm scared Sakusa... Please help me.. Please... I'm scared.."
Sakusa pulled Atsumu close to him. A pair of hands landed on Atsumu's head and he caressed him gently. As if he forgot everything that he disliked and focused entirely on Atsumu. His eyes fidgeted anywhere, trying to calm Atsumu down. His eyes soon crashed on a whiteboard that hung on the wall. His jaws dropped slightly.
