MEANWHILE ---4 YEARS LATER---

Jeromes’ POV

Its a loverly morning, I woke to the sound of birds calling above me. Im Jerome, I am the Chiefs son…though as soon I left the tribe that title had no significance- you see, as a male Bacca, as soon as you are able to fight, hunt and breed, you have to leave the tribe, for most of us it is around the age of 13, but for me it was 9…lets just say, I developed faster than most. It was difficult at first, but once I had set up a home base, everything else was plain sailing. My base is a jungle hut- it has bridges made out of vines, which connect it to the other large jungle trees, the hut is reasonably sized, well its big enough for a full grown hunk of Bacca, like yours truly. Im comfortable living by myself, I mean, it will never be anything like living with my tribe… Every morning I would wake up to the smell of raw fish, served by mother, after I had eaten, I would go weapon training with my father for about 5 hours- soon enough I aced the course and could easily beat any full-grown bacca in the area. Sometimes it was difficult, especially for an adolescent male (For a bacca 9 is concidered adolenscent); mating season would always be the worst, I would have to lock myself away from the world, staring out of my window at the canopy below…Usually I wasnt the problem during mating season, ok, sometimes I was- male baccas get aggressive and extremely flustered during that kind of time, I remember my mum telling me of a time when I tried mating with a chicken, I would hate to think of the monstrosity that that creature would have been …though for me, hiding away was for my own protection, as the chiefs only son, it was my duty to continue the families name, that meant that during mating season, all the females in the tribe would become difficult to deal with…though locking myself away during spring is easier said than done…its my favourite season, the jungle would be full of life, the bird calls, the flow of water pounding on the rocks surrounding the plungepool; echoing from the near-by waterfall...the cloudless sky would be a bold blue, causing sun to peice the leaves of the trees effortlessly...God I love spring.

Anyway, I need to go hunting, I’m running low on food. I eat lots of different things, though you have to adapt when you live in a jungle with no one else….I grab my trusty axe, this axe was given to me by my father just before I was forced to leave, she means alot to me, yes, she, her name is Betty, I dont really know why I called her that, it just felt right (totally not an obession with Betty White) I better head down to the stream, I go there to fish, its always so relaxing, the clear water spinning as the leaves form dropplets that crash into the calming water, its my favourite place.

Mitchs’ POV

Time for another hunt, its been pretty easy living out by myself, though sometimes it does get lonely, its those lonely times when I remember the faces of my family, Ive had nightmares before, though those usually go away after a couple of days, but the images in my head are imprinted, those images will never go away.

I have a small shack, it suits me, small but strong- It is completely wooden and suspended from two fallen jungle trees, the surrounding trees keeping it standing; the jungle is the only thing that keeps me standing, I love it out here, its so peacefull, its nice to get away from all the violence, ive never really been without violence, its always been there, if not in reality then in the back of my mind, playing with my feelings, determining my attitude, controling my actions, acting as my brain.

 Jeromes POV

Im heading down to river when I hear something, baccas have very sensitive ears, so I could hear something upto 4 miles away. I start crouching down, I walk on all-fours, trying to keep myself as low down and quiet as possible, suddenly I could see something, its a human…oh no….ever since I was small I was taught that humans were nasty animals, with no heart, they would kill for the fun of it and could wipe out whole tribes. I hate them. The human was wearing a black and red checkered hoodie, he has light brown hair with hazel eyes that could pierce any girl or baccas' heart- dont quote me on the colours that he was wearing, baccas are mostly colour-blind! The Human must have heard something as it turned my direction, for a split second its hazel eyes locked with mine.

Mitch’s POV

I was casually hunting pigs when I heard a rustle coming from beside me…I turned slowly to spot a animal, it looks like a bear, it has dark brown fur, which was partally knotted, forming small matted clumps, the animal has chocolate brown eyes, they have small specs of gold in the iris, which make them hard to stop looking at, it started to approach me. I just stood there, well what can you do when there is a hairy ape in front of you. The creature started to circle me, observing my every move, but I stand my ground, I cross my arms and tilt my head, im full of atitude today. Suddenly it jumps back, standing up…holy shit this thing is tall, oh, and its a male by the looks of it, I blush. The animal towers above me, lets out a deathly roar and returns to standing on all-fours. I didn’t know what to do, so I grabbed my sword, wielding it in front of me, as soon as I did this the bear thing returns to a stance, springing its claws out and bearing its teeth…”So you wanna play?” The creature says, picking some flesh out of its teeth using its razor sharp claws. I raised my sword and charged, the animal deflected every strike with its diamond axe, damn, this creature is strong, it reminds me of fighting with my father...Mitch dont tear up, not again, I ran at it again, praying that it couldnt tell I was slightly crying- I slowly walk forward, hoping to trap it against a tree, the creature backs up against the tree, tricking me into thinking I had caught it, suddenly the animal pushes up, and does a flip off of the tree, landing behind me, I spin around, only to get pinned against the tree…"Nice try human” The animal smirks, “What are you?!!” I yell, trying to push against the animal, but failing, “Im a bacca!” the creature says proudly, pinning me back down, it stares me in the eyes, like it is trying to understand my past, I look back into his, all I could see was kindness, that gave me hope. “So, you gonna kill me or what?” I smirk, raising an eyebrow… “Oh I can think of much better things to do to you!” He replies, then blushing after he realises what he said “well then, the names Mitch” I say, taking advantage of the awkwardness of the situation, “My name is Jerome” the bacca replies, lowering me gently, “now don’t try anything stupid human” Jerome says sternly. I stupidly ignore him, and try to run, not realising how fast Jerome is, he grabs me again and throws me to the floor, pouncing on me, I realise how he is sitting, he has his knees on either side of my crotch and is resting on my junk. Seeing that I haven’t had any interaction with anyone for nearly 4 years, my body will take anything it gets, I blush and look down then quickly look back up at Jerome, Jerome looks down quickly and blushes hard…he then smirks and leans down to my ear, “I told you not to do anything stupid Mitchell” Jerome whispers, I shiver, I know what he’s doing, he is taking advantage of the situation, playing me at my own game. “Just g..et off…me” I moan, “say please.” The bacca replies, bearing down harder, making me buck upwards, “don’t piss about!” I say throwing my head back…”rude” Jerome says, placing his hands in front of him, which means they are resting some where I don’t want them to be at this point. “FINE…PLEASE!” I yell, Jerome quickly jumps off me. I grab the closest tree and haul myself up, “WHAT WAS THAT FOR?” I yell, I look down, Im covered in dust and hairs, “I don’t like humans” The bacca simply replies, “well something tells me you’re lying” I reply, looking down, his eyes following my gaze. “Oh” He says looking back up. “So, what causes a human to be alone in the jungle?” He asks, “Its a long story” I add, pulling off my t-shirt, which is covered in, well, everything! “Oh….oh well, that can’t be good” Jerome stutters, gawking at me, it seems as though he is studying my body, is he drooling? He is totally checking me out! “Eyes up here please” I joke, Jerome blushes. “So do you live around here?” I ask, stripping down into my boxers and jumping into the river, “Kind of, I needed to go hunting, I’ve exhausted every area near my base, so now I’m having to travel further!” He says, rolling his eyes. “Thats a bummer eh?” I ask, dipping my head under the water, “you’re Canadian eh?” Jerome jokes, now I roll my eyes.
