"What do you mean 'Hank got arrested'?"
Jo had pulled herself out of bed and was going to the closet. "I don't know. Mama's in hysterics."
"Okay... let's go get her."
"Antonio..."
"No, Jo. He's family, whether I like it or not."
"Get her ready to go." Jo sighed. "I'll go wake Zoë."
"We're taking Grace?"
"Yep... Grace is a natural calming presence for people in my family... so, she comes."
"And Zoë is in charge of the rest of our brood."
Jo smiled. "Exactly."
Antonio left to go get Grace ready to go while Josie went to wake their oldest daughter.
"Zoë?" Jo knelt by Zoë's bed. "Sweetheart? I need you to wake up."
"Mama?" Zoë rubbed her eyes. "Is something wrong?"
"Sorta... we have to go help Mimi... you're in charge of your brothers and Eva."
"You're taking Gracie?"
"Yeah, she always calms people down... and right now, Mimi needs to stay calm."
"Okay."
"That's it?"
Zoë pointed at the clock. "Mama, it's 3 in the morning... I don't have the brain power to ask more questions."
Jo chuckled. "Okay, we'll explain when we come back. Don't burn the house down."
"Mhmm." Zoë mumbled as she pulled the blankets back over herself and rolled over.
Josie left the room, closing the door behind her.
"How'd it go?"
"Well, she's too tired to ask a million questions, so at least we'll have answers for them by the time we come back." Josie looked down at Grace. "She fell asleep again?"
"Surprisingly, as soon as I had her all strapped into this thing, she was like 'Okay, I'll sleep here.'"
"She is so your child." Jo sighed. "I have to toss, turn and make a sacrifice of a virgin to some ancient deity to fall asleep."
"You could try melatonin like Gaby suggested."
Jo sighed. "Let's go find out what's going on with Dad and keep Mama from losing her mind right before their wedding."
