"On your knees, Vaibhav. I want you to beg on your knees," she sibilated as she twirled the paperweight atop the glass of her desk.
His fingers bunched into fists by his side, and one of his knees started to bend.
"The great Vaibhav Raajpurohit on his knees for me! Who would have thought?" She laughed as his knees buckled and he sank on the floor, debased in front of her like he had humiliated her all those years ago.
But there was still a difference.
There were no people to witness his helplessness. She had not thrown a party to do what he had done to her.
"What can you do now if I refuse to let Aditya marry your precious Raina?" she drawled.
"They love each other," he spat through his gritted teeth, glaring at her.
She was still beautiful, after all these years.
After everything.
And she still made his blood sing.
"Love? Aditya Shergill will discard your daughter like used rubber, Vaibhav, if I say so," she snarled.
"Dhara!"
"Why? It hurts, doesn't it? How does it feel, Vaibhav? How does this humiliation feel?" She questioned as she pushed away from her desk, grabbing the cane that rested by the side of desk.
When she stood, trembling slightly, leaning on her cane to steady herself, he turned his face.
"Why? Can't stomach the sight of what you did to me, Vaibhav?" she taunted as she rounded her desk, every step accompanied by the tap of her cane.
"Well, I am not you, Vaibhav. I will give Aditya a choice," she purred, "between your daughter and his inheritance. He can pick one and never return to the other... "
With that she walked out of her office and he couldn't move even after she was gone.
Dhara Shergill had just pounded the last nail over the coffin of Raina's happiness...
