???'s POV
"Them?" you asked. "Yes, them," your father replied. Looking at the bright sky, your father continues. "They've been suffering for 10 years now, son. I believe you're the right person I should send to look after them," he smiled at you, patting your shoulder. It was a big responsibility, but you knew you were capable. "I'll make you proud, father," you held his hand. His eyes softened and smiled again.
Y/N's POV
"I'm done."
You stormed out of the office, eyes filled with tears, and your emotions mixed with despair and anger. You can't believe what you had just seen, another thing to layer on your reasons about why you shouldn't be here anymore. You were forced to marry the boss of a semi-famous company to save your family. You weren't exactly with the idea at first, but you eventually began to give in. Then you realised how toxic a relationship like this could be. It hurt you, you couldn't even communicate with your soon-to-be husband at all. Now he's gone and cheated on you.
You grasped onto your belongings in your cubicle and immediately leave the building. It was already almost dark outside, so you walked your way back to your apartment.
Once you reached your apartment door, you fiddled with the back pocket of your jeans, reaching for your apartment key. Taking it out, you unlock the door and got in. Sighing, you drop your stuff onto the ground. You collapsed onto the floor along with your things, curling yourself up. You laid your forehead on your knees, sobbing quietly and contemplating.
Your life couldn't just go on like this, it was already bad as it was. Of course, you wanted to run to someone, engulf yourself in their embrace. But now you were alone. You lost everyone. Your husband, your friends, your family. Your friends abandoned you after finding out how bad your life was, dropping a heavy weight onto your shoulder. Then your family. Your parents neglected you after realising how different you were to other kids. Was it your intelligence? Or maybe your disobedience. Maybe, they never loved you at all. The only person you had left in your family was your grandmother. She comforted you whenever you felt like crying on someone's shoulder. To you, she was like a mother model. But after she passed away, another heavy weight dropped onto your shoulders, making your life a lot more worse than it already was. Then today, the final weight landed on you. You couldn't hold up the weights anymore, making you fall violently into a dimension of eternal despair.
Lifting your face up, you decide to get up and take a shower. Staring at yourself in the mirror, you notice your puffy eyes, your red nose, and several slight red marks on your cheeks. They came from your husband constantly hitting you. He took out his anger on you, not realising he just made your situation worse. You sigh again and closed the bathroom door.
While getting dressed, you look at yourself in the mirror again. Your eyes, they used to sparkle so much when you were a youth. Now they're plain and dull. Multiple cut wounds on your arms remained hidden within the protection of your sleeves. You never wore short sleeved clothing for that purpose, even if it was boiling. Then you look up at the rope hanging from the ceiling you prepared the other day.
I think.. I should use this now. That sentence echoed in your head since you got home, and now you couldn't hold back any longer. Getting up onto a stool, you slip your head between the coil of the rope. You took a deep breathe in and recalled all the happy memories you made, before your gallery was filled with memories full of depression. Kicking the stool, you shut your eyes and struggle, kicking your legs. Your lungs couldn't function properly, your neck being blocked off by the tight coil of the rope. Feeling as if you were drowning, you began to feel your body relax, not caring that you were suffocating anymore. You felt yourself getting lifted up, making you flash your eyes open. You felt yourself floating in thin air when you notice someone carrying you. Not having the time to process what they looked like, you shut your eyes when you feel them carrying you out the window, it seemed as if they were flying.
As you stopped moving, you felt a breeze of wind brush against your face when you opened your eyes. Widening them, you notice you were on a rooftop with a complete stranger. You then back away from them, noticing their abnormal feature. "Don't be afraid," the man smiled, closing in his wings. White and pure, his wings resembled his face, his voice, the atmosphere that surrounded you and him. "Who are you?" you asked, your words trembling slightly. The man came closer. "I'm Taehyung, an angel," he stated, nice and clearly. "I'm supposed to protect you, Y/N." You step back. "How do you know my name?"
He smiled once more. "Why would I be your guardian angel if I didn't know?" he chuckled. He looked at you, softening his gaze. "I know what you've been through Y/N, I'm here to make things better," he laid his hands on your shoulders. You looked at him deep into the eyes. "Why didn't you come sooner..?" Tears formed in your eyes. If you've known he existed before, maybe if he came sooner, you wouldn't have had to gone through that pain you went through for the past 10 years of your life. "I'm sorry I couldn't come sooner," he spoke softly. "If only I've been assigned to you sooner, I could've prevented this from happening." Wiping your tears away, you look at Taehyung. "Am I allowed to stay with you?"
He raised an eyebrow. "We barely know each other-" You huddled into his wings. "I don't want to see them again, my parents," your voice darkened saying the word 'parents'. Taehyung looked at you and trapped you into the embrace of his wing. "I understand," he spoke. "I'll take you to my place then."
