"If you're reading this, you must be in dire need of a change. The same thing happened to me, long ago. I'd lost sight of what mattered most in life... real connections with other people and nature. So I dropped everything and moved to the place I truly belong."
The morning sun crept over the mountain pass as light casted it's beautiful rays over the lush green valley that stretched out for countless miles. Josh blinked slowly as he rested his head against the window of the bus he was on. His grandfathers words echoed in his mind and he gripped the letter gently in his hand and sighed looking around at the empty bus for he was the only passenger on board.
"Did I really make the right choice....or maybe I'm just this desperate to move on...."
He let out a sigh and rubbed his forehead thinking back to the events that had led him to taking a bus in the middle of the night to a place he had never heard about. Everything in his life had been going fine. He had a great job was in a happy relationship and everyday seemed to be going great. Which was why he should have known better to believe anything was perfect.
It all happened in a matter of a month. His works company was burned to the ground leaving him with no job, his partner was found to be cheating on him and he was kicked out of his apartment for the lease being raised more than he could afford. He had moved into the basement of his moms house and had completely given up before being given a letter about a grandfather he couldn't even remember.
But the letter had awoken something inside of him and it was almost like a calling. So with no other choice he used the last of his money for the bus ticket and left the city he had been born in.
The large vehicle came to a stop and he stepped out and took a breath surprised by how fresh the air was and instantly felt his body relax. That's when he noticed an older gentleman walking down the path. He was an older man with brown overalls, a old worn brown cap, his gray well groomed mustache was a standout to his appearance. He introduced himself as Lewis the mayor of Pelican Town which Josh couldn't help but smile at the name.
The mayor and him walked down the dirt road and the Lewis explained how close he was to his grandfather making Josh wish he had known his late relative. Soon they came to the farm and to say Josh was a little surprised well....maybe that wasn't the right word to use. Actually words couldn't be found after he had glanced at his new "home".
It wasn't much honestly it was a mess.... but Josh felt a surge of pride already seeing the great potential this place had.
"Well Josh my boy you make yourself at home and don't forget there are many new friends waiting to be met in town for you". He watched as the mayor left and suddenly his phone vibrated and he opened the message and he smiled warmly.
*Hey! Heard you left the city. Almost makes me jealous. Wishing I could be that free*
-Arielle
Josh took one last look at the farm and then back at his phone and looked up into the beautiful blue sky and let out a small laugh and smiled once more.
"Yeah.....friends"
