Built in 1878, Music Hall has a rather grotesque background. It was constructed on top of a former "potter's field," a mass grave designated for the poor and the unknown. Human bones and remains were uncovered during construction and (if you believe the stories) more than one spirit was released as well.

Remnants of the icon's eerie past are still reported today. There's the freight elevator that, according to Music Hall employees, occasionally goes up and down without anyone ever having pressed the button. There's the "ghost light," a lone light bulb left glowing every single night on stage to light the way for the ghosts.

And finally, late at night, a man in a top hat can be seen in his stately regalia, sitting in his box seat, waiting for the music to strike up. There have also been sightings of a floating lady in white, as well as a small child.

Chills.
