y/n pov: it was around 7am and you felt the sun on you face, peeking through the slits in the blinds. your eyes started to blink open and you felt someone pressed up behind you. smiling to yourself you thought back to last night's memories as they played through your mind.

you were curled up on the couch and it was nearing midnight when you heard the click of the lock on the door, indicating emily had returned home from a case; as she entered the room, you could immediate sense her tension. you unwrapped yourself from your blanket and walked towards her, without saying a word you took her into an embrace. she immediately reciprocated and you felt her weight a little more when her knees buckled beneath her. you held her up and softly spoke to her.

"i'm not gonna force it, but you know i'm here if you want to talk." you said, and she nodded her head in response. you pulled back a bit, her following your actions, and you looked into her eyes searching for any type of indication on where her head was at.

emily always joked with you and said that you should join the BAU seeing how well you could read people and their emotions. you knew she was saying that to make you smile, but there was a little bit of truth in her statement. time and time again her team members would tell you that you were the only person who could read emily's thoughts and emotions with ease, and always be spot on.

"thank you," emily finally spoke, and you gave a tight smile in response.

"always," you said and she pressed a kiss to your lips.

you both made your way back over to the sofa before you sat down, pulling her with you. she laid her head on your lap and you began running your fingers through her hair while she traced mindless shapes on your thigh. as you sat there, she stayed quiet, only the tv's low volume filling the room with white noise.

after an hour or so, you realized she wasn't going to crack so you suggested going to bed, and she complied. you pulled some shorts and a t-shirt out of the dresser and placed them on the bathroom counter, warming up the water while she undressed.

you made your way back to the bedroom to give her some space while she processsed her thoughts and crawled in bed, waiting for her to join you. not long after, you heard the water shut off and less than 10 minutes after, she came through the door frame, and followed your previous actions joining you under the duvet.

"thank you for making me feel safe," emily said as she curled up next to you, "and thank you for not forcing me to talk. you make me feel comfortable." and you pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head in response.

not too long after you heard her breaths even out, indicating she was asleep. you sighed knowing she was finally relaxed enough and turned over, hoping to get some sleep yourself.

you felt emily stir behind you, and her grip on your body tightened ever so slightly. you knew she was awake when you felt a kiss pressed against your neck. you turned around in her hold, faces inches apart. she smiled and looked into your eyes, making your heart skip a beat.

"are you ready to talk about it?" you asked her and face dropped a little bit. you knew she didn't want to. "em, you can't keep it in all the time. i know you like to put it in a box and forget about it, but by doing that it's going to resurface. please, talk to me." i pleaded and she hesitated a moment before replying.

"okay... i know, you're right.." she said with a hint of defeat in her tone. you smiled a replied, "i'll go put on a pot of coffee, how do you want your eggs cooked?" she smiled back.

"surprise me" she said with a wink and you pressed a kiss to her cheek.
