Hello again, this chapter will be dedicated to exploring different identities in the LGBTQ+ community and learning about their flags and meanings. Thank you so much for reading!
This is probably the most commonly known pride flag. As it is THE pride flag. The rainbow stripped flag is a symbol for the entirety of the LGBTQ+ community. Most people associate it with gay men and women, though it also represents every soul in the queer community.
This is the lesbian pride flag! Also known as the sunset lesbian pride flag, this isn't the only flag associated with lesbians. I will go into more detail about the history of this pride flag later on. A lesbian is a woman who feels romantic affection towards other woman. All though, the white stripe in the middle of the flag represents gender-non conforming individuals who were born female that feel comfortable enough to use the lesbian title. Remember, they are just as valid as any other lesbian!
This is a blue gay men flag. Usually, when describing gay people, the rainbow flag I added at the beginning of the page is used. Although, it seems, like lesbians, they created their own flag. Strangely, I have not seen this flag used often and I would like to find out more about its history. Gay men are men who are romantically attracted to other men.
I present: the bisexual pride flag! Someone who identifies as bisexual is attracted to two or more genders. People inside and outside the LGBTQ+ community argue over the similarities of bisexual and pansexual. They are not the same thing! I will dive into this debate later on. Most people who use the bisexual label are attracted to men and women, though bi people can be interested in others who don't identify as male and female. If a bisexual person leans towards one gender more than others, it doesn't make them straight or gay. They are still bisexual.
Say hello to the transgender pride flag! Someone who is trans was born one gender, then changed to another. Most of the time, this flag is used for trans men and trans women, but it can also be used for someone who isn't male or female. To be trans, you have to identify with a different gender than the one you were assigned with at birth.
Obviously, these aren't the only flags that exist in the LGBTQ+ community. I will describe more later on. Have a nice day!
