J A L I C I A | 💘

"You're seven weeks pregnant."

I looked at Doctor Smith in shock. I had decided to come to the same clinic that Nina and I went to. She seemed very understanding, and I was certain of it too. I also admired how she was patient with me because I was not familiar with this pregnancy process.

"Seven? Damn," Kentrell looked at my stomach. I looked at it too. Seven?

The memories of my birthday popped into my head. It was now mid-December.

"Yes," Doctor Smith nodded, looking at her clipboard. "About to be eight in a few days."

"I'm sure you have symptoms such as vomiting, frequent urination, fatigue...." the doctor went on and I nodded to each symptom. Definitely vomiting.

"I received a call this morning, you wanted to do a ultan?"

"Ultan?" I raised my eyebrow. "That's what my assistant said." Doctor Smith showed me her clipboard. I narrowed my eyes.

"The thing mane, where they can see the baby inna stomach. I called this mornin'," Kentrell described.

I looked at Doctor Smith and we both laughed. "Bae, it's called an ultrasound." I rubbed his shoulder. "Oh," his voice softened and he smiled.

"Oh, Kentrell you're funny. My kids actually listens to you all the time." Doctor Smith laughed. "Thank you."

"Okay, Kentrell didn't tell me anything..." I looked at him. "But I guess we can try it." I smiled brightly holding Kentrell's hand.

Doctor Smith handed me the ultrasound paper, and Kentrell was all over me trying to see as well. "It's so small." He rubbed my stomach. "Of course bae. My baby bump hasn't developed yet."

My stomach wasn't flat, but it was. I don't know. It was like from someone's else point of view you could tell I was pregnant.

Doctor Smith started to wipe the gel from my stomach, but Kentrell offered to. He did it very softly. I giggled, because it felt weird.

"Oh shi—" All of a sudden I felt a kick in my stomach. "What?" Kentrell eyes widened. "I felt a kick."

I looked at my stomach and he looked at it as well. The baby kicked again. And again. Kentrell put his ear on my stomach and I looked at Doctor Smith, laughing again.

He was so funny. "I can hear it a lil." I ruffled his dreads and he was about spread my legs open when he remembered where we were.

"Sorry."

"It's okay. Did you want me to tell Jalicia what we talked about last week?" She pointed to me. "What did you tell her?"

He nodded to the Doctor then looked at me. "Kentrell wanted me to help you with your drug recovery. I know a few people that have went through what you have. I helped them with the same exact thing, and now majority of them are totally clean."

"Okay." I looked at Kentrell. He was serious on this, huh?

"It's a club. More so like a class. They have a class twice a week, I'm precise it'll be good for you. And the baby." She looked at my stomach.

"Yes. I want to be better for this baby, especially." I rubbed my stomach. "It's okay ma. Ima help you through it an' everything." Kentrell squeezed my thigh. I put my arm around his neck.
