the girl who survived

the war

Modesty Dior is a girl who was about 15 when the 3rd world war start. The war opposed Asia and Europe. As she is a french girl which come from a rich family and so she has been able to get a proper education. During the third war she got to become a teacher and take care of the children from her town. Since she was one of the oldest in the school and one of the only girl who was old enough to protect and teach other she had a really important place in the school. 

Modesty was a really strong and independant women who loved to learn new stuff. She litteraly could be reading for the whole day and night without even realising. She had a older brother and a younger sister. In fact, when the war started she had been left by most of her friends who went to hide somewhere unexpected just as a forest or something. Since then she was alone and had to protect a lot of children against her own protection. Her older brother who was juste 2 years older than her had to do the same.

 As both parent had to go to fight in the war, every children were left alone at home without protection. After some time, children had to start working for the war, they had to be able to heal and to defend themself. They were used to built weapons for the parents. At the same time they had to learn what they should have learned at school if everything was normal. That was the job of Modesty. She had to teach them and make sure that she was going to be like a second mom for them.

The school was working pretty well. The morning, the girls had to woke up to go check the injured soldier that were coming for healing in the hospital wing of the school. Then, every children were going eating in the main room. After breakfast, some of the children were going in class with the older one as teacher and the other were going to work in there speciality's. Some of them were working on new weapon with new technology in them. Other, more scientist one, were working on nuclear. The one who were already working had finished their school time and so were working for the day long. As some of them though it was really weird to work like that and that the oldest had the easiest job the other werent questionning. 

Little did they know that, after doing their day job, the oldest, such as Modesty or her brother, Romann, had to make surveillance for the school at night prepare for breakfast and school, make sure everyone was safe and asleep. Most of the war meeting were held at night, hidden from the youngest, to make the older know how the war was doing. And then, around 3am they could go to sleep with each time one of them not sleeping to inspect the school and everything.

The life there was quite complicated for the older. And it had gotten even more complicated after more soldiers came for heal and to tell the "parents of the school" about the war and when they told them that the USA choose to go with the Asia. At that time each one of them knew that they were going to loose.  They had then started to create a whole gallery under the school in case the war had gotten to close to the school to make sure the youngest were safe. After a month of hard working on the hidding place of the school they started to prepare stuff to put in every night. For exemple, the youngest started to make more food than usual or even sometimes they were asked to make a few blanket. And so, soon enough the undergroud was ready to keep alive the whole school in it for more than 4 month. 

We were now about a month before Modesty's 17 birthday, and at their secret war meeting they learned that in about a week Asian soldiers were going to be near the school and that there was probably going to be a bombing raid on the school. After that meeting, Modesty knew that it was the end for Europe and that so they lost. She then talked to her brother about what she thought was going to be the best for the school and the youngest. She told him that for her the war was lost for the Europe and that so in order to be kept alive they should turn to Asia. They used to tell the youngest during lunch about the war progress and so this time she had to tell them about it.  The lunch started and the children were playfully talking to each  other while eating. At the end of the lunch, Modesty stood up and asked for silence. 

- "Hello everyone, we have some news about the war." she say as the silence got over the whole room. Each children looking weirdly at each other asking why is she so serious. "Unfortunately, those news aren't the greatest." She then could start to see the children face become more and more sad. She then continu. "We just learned that Asia has gotten up in our territory and so that we might be attacked soon." She kept her calm as she saw some girl looking terrified. "However you dont have to worry. We already made a hidding place under the school we will show you how to get in and out of it this afternoon. You are now all asked to get back to your room and pack your most important thing in the little bag that had been place this morning on each of your bed. Then come back here so we can show you how to go there. You dont have to bring the bag with you. On this see you soon." And then she asked. "Okay the girls are coming with me." and then she left.

The girl were following her as she told them what was important or not. While passing in some corridor she showed them some of the secret passage that were headding to the secret place. she then explaned that most of them could only be opened by the inside and that so the main one was near the classroom. She helped them to pack their thing and when each one of them had finished she drove the girl to the place by the opening and make them discover the place. The place was actually the old cellar remade a bit more cozier. She then showed the place that was created to be the girl area and the food area and even the bathroom. She then left with the girl to let them deal with the news and she had to make the same visit for some other kids.

A week later, during Modesty night as gardian she sudently heard some explosion and so rang the alarm. Soon enough she was in the hidding place with everyone and she was calling each student to make sure they were here. Coming to her sister and her bestfriend she realised that the 2 girls were missing and so she finished the calling stuff and decided to head out to search for them. As it was her sister she exactly knew where to search. She headed to the inside garden to find her hidden whith the other girl behind a bush. She then proced to take them back to the hidding place and so safety. The bomb raid kept going while the 3 girl were running through the school. As they got closer to the entrance of the secret place, Modesty started to observe that the bomb were now falling right on the school and she immediately knew that one was going to fell right next to the laboritary of the nuclear section and so the entrance of the hidden place. Soon enough they were at the entrance but as Modesty opened the secret door, she heard the whistling of a bomb and by the noise she could tell that this one was felling right next to her. As fast as she could, she pushed the girl inside and closed the door behind them leaving herself to the bomb and so leading her to a certain death.  

She then felt the earth quake to the blaste. She knew at the same time that the bomb was made to fall on the laboratory. As she expected, the nuclear laboratory had really dangerous subtences and soon after the blast that she survived by hidding behind a wall she got off of her safety place before seeing a really weird blizzard coming to her. As the blizzard got on her she started to feel cold and she couldn't move nor speak and she soon felt in a really strong nap.
