Backstory: His father left him when he was twelve. When he was 18, his mother vanished, leaving him alone. After being kidnapped by Eggman, he was rescued by Sonic. When talking with Sonic, Shadow was mentioned, and Flare realized his grandfather had been in the Space Colony ARK. After searching for and eventually finding Shadow, the two connected through their pasts, and Shadow eventually began taking a liking to the kid.
