On Saturday morning, Emery was woken up by a squealing Cecilia.

"Emery," she said excitedly, throwing pillows on her face. "Em!"

Emery groaned, then flopped back underneath her covers.

Cecilia placed Marco on her bed. "Wake your mistress up," she told him.

"QUACK!" That was Marco.

He took his hard flippers and began waddling on her bed, in an effort to wake her up.

That seemed to do the trick.

Emery groggily sat up, looking around. "Naughty Bird," she told him sleepily.

Marco flapped his wings and jumped down from the bed, while Cecilia giggled.

"Cecy," she whined. "I always sleep in on Saturday, why wake me up so bloody early?" she grumbled.

Cecilia grinned, a sly smile playing upon her lips. "Yes, but not every Saturday is your birthday," she retorted.

That was all it took for all sleep to disappear from Emery's head.

"It's my birthday!" she squealed excitedly, rushing forwards and hugging Cecilia. "I'm seventeen. Finally!"

Cecilia hugged her back, thankful for all the moments they shared together.

"I've got a present for you," Cecilia said excitedly. "Come."

"I need to get ready first," Emery said.

Cecilia glanced at Emery, who was still in her pajamas. "Oh, right."

"Come here," said Cecilia, pulling her to the bed.

Emery looked at the large parcel on the bed.

Suspense getting the better of her, she slowly tore the ribbon open, then ripped the box apart.

It was a dress.

It was made of floaty, silvery material that shimmered whenever it moved. It was off shoulder, the shoulders made of net, holding sleeves that reached just above her elbows. The bottom part was made of layers, the front ending at her midthigh, while the back trailed to reach her knees. The waist was held by a thin satin ribbon.

"Oh, it's beautiful," breathed Emery.

Cecilia nodded. "I saw it last weekend at Hogsmeade, and I immediately thought of you."

Emery pulled Cecilia into her arms. "Thanks Cecy. Really, it's beautiful."

Cecilia winked. "Yes, but you have to wear it today."

"Today?" echoed Emery. "But I'm already dressed. Besides, this dress is too fancy to wear in school."

Cecilia grinned. "I know. You change into it later then. I don't care, whatever the case you have to wear it today. At least only for dinner," she added. "You'll hurt my feelings if you don't," she pouted.

"Oh, alright," Emery agreed, having no mind at all to wear it.

"Promise?"

Emery knew she was stuck then. "Promise," she grumbled, then shook Cecy's hand grudgingly.
