Maverick gave her the clothes that he had gathered from her dresser and sighed. "Clean yourself up. I'll look for your toy and figure out what to do with dad. Come downstairs when you're done and when there is no more blood on you." And with that, he left her alone with her many thoughts. Maverick had entertained the thought of murder before but never had the guts to commit it. He stared blankly at his father's body, which was now surrounded in a pool of his blood. He felt no remorse or pain at the sight, he never cared about his father. How could he? He grabbed his phone and called Samuel, the stranger that had so kindly given him a ride home and had invited him to a party just a few hours before. Samuel answered the phone with a tired yawn. "Hello Sam, it's Maverick, I'm sorry about calling at this time in the morning. I might be a little late to arrive, would I be able to bring my little sister with me? There are some things happening at home." Sam tiredly responded with approval and hung up. Maverick decided to search for his sister's bear. He couldn't find it anywhere inside, so he stepped over the bloody body and opened the front door. The neighbors wouldn't notice his white shirt, which was now stained red with his sins, as they never cared much for him or his little sister. There, laying on the ground in front of him, was the small toy bear. It looked so peaceful, unaware of the unholy, evil act that the man holding it had carried out. So pleasant, so delicately soft to the touch, a fragment of innocence unbroken and preserved from a past he did not wish to remember.

He took Jelly Bean inside and saw Julia standing at the bottom of the staircase with a look of fear covering her face, like an envelope carrying a delicate letter, a piece of paper that had the potential to change your life forever. Maverick was not sure if she feared him or if she was scared of the dead body of their father. He smiled reassuringly and waggled his long, bony finger. She took small, short steps, and when she neared his slim figure, she hung her head low. "Julia, we're going away for a while. You can make some new friends, but you are NOT allowed to talk about dad, under no circumstance can you mention him. Am I understood?" Julia reluctantly nodded her head, knowing that if she ever spoke about this "incident" to anyone, she would never see her brother again.
