Many people have noticed that Princess Luciana from Barbie as the Island Princess shares a remarkable resemblance to Queen Isabella, the late mother of the 12 Dancing Princesses. This has led to speculation that Luciana and Isabella are actually the same person. The man seen with Luciana at the end of the movie does resemble King Randolph, so it's not too far-fetched to assume she might have changed her name after marring and passed away shortly after.
However, this theory simply isn't true. There's plenty of evidence that makes it clear Luciana and Isabella aren't the same person. For one, Luciana's eyes are clearly brown, while Isabella's- though its hard to see- appear to be green.

However, this isn't the only thing that disproves the theory. Several of the 12 Dancing Princesses can be seen at the Royal Ball and at Rosella's wedding in the Island Princess, both of which Luciana also attended. In fact, Courtney, Edeline and Ashlyn can even be seen directly behind Luciana during the song "When We Have Love"

This automatically disproves the theory, because- unless the princesses can time travel- there's no way they could be adults and in the same room as their mother while she was still alive.
However, while Luciana isn't the same person as Queen Isabella, there is still evidence that the two are related. For one, Luciana does look extremely similar to Isabella, and we know that her looks did not come from her mother (Ariana has red hair and blue eyes). What if Luciana's father was Isabella's brother?
If she'd had a brother, especially if he was older than her, he would've absolutely been about the right age to be the elderly king Ariana sings about in "Love is for Peasants". Luciana being Isabella's niece would explain their resemblance. Not only this, but it also explains Ashlyn, Courtney, and Edeline's appearance at the royal ball and the wedding. Originally, the wedding was supposed to be Luciana's, so it would make sense that they would travel to see their cousin get married.
