Dedicated to @slaystrong, my beautiful friend, for always being there for me to read my silly rough drafts... your amazing girlie:)

CAYDEN

I close my eyes and take a deep breath, my first day of being a freshman , in the middle of the school year.

Dear people,

When one enters in the middle of class in homeroom, in the middle of the year, DON'T STARE!

It's already weird being the, probably, tallest girl there and when everybody stares it's just like WOAH, never noticed I had so many insecurities before.

So here I was, in the middle of Science, standing in the back, with the activites director ushering me further into the class room. I pulled my back up straight, held my head high and everything was going well.

There were lab tables, LAB TABLES! That means I'm stuck with someone who, there is a great chance, I won't like.

"Sorry, I don't know where to sit." I said sheepishly, but laughed while speaking, I felt embarrassed, but made sure my face didn't show it.

I smiled as the teacher said:

"Cayden, right?"

"Yeah".

"Rght next to Mr. Halan".

The hottest guy in room raised his hand as if saying 'right here'.

Don't get me wrong he was hot, but diffinetly NOT my type. He was, like, too atletic, too hot, too popular, and too player. I HATED guys like this, they're so annoying.

Long-story short, my older sister, Cayla was dumped by a played he said that she was different and that they would stay together forever, since when was forever two months? Jerk-face.

Halan looked me up and down like he was examining me, guys who do this can go die in a black hole. Now.

People have told me I'm pretty, facial-wise? Kind of, but the rest of me? In my opinion, looks horrible.

The teacher introduced herself.

"Hello, Cayden, I'm Miss Lanchet, Cayden meet everybody, everybody meet Cayden. Textbooks: 346"

I looked at the clock which was right beside Halan's face, on the opposite side of the room.

It was far and I strained to see, when I do that, this weird thing happens where I squint my left eye. 9:15, good fifteen more minutes until my next class.

"Checking me out, eh?" Halan spoke and snapped me out of la-la land. I made a face of disgust and said "you? really? if you haven't noticed there is a clock behind you." He shrugged, duh, he knew there was a clock there, duh!

I opened my textbook to the correct page, and looked at the girl who was holding something that was important to the lesson, she looked like me. We both have dirty-blonde hair and both of us, tall. My eyes were a hazel colour, more green now that I think about it.

"Layla, can you read for us?" the teacher questioned. "Yes, ma'am" she said and flipped her hair off her shoulder toward me as if saying 'I'm popular and better than everybody in this room, including you, Cayden. That's why she chose me to read.' sort of way.

Science ended quickly, I got up and realized I have no idea where my next class, English, was.

"Where ya going?" Halan asked

"I have no clue, frankly"

"What subject?"

"English"

"Cool, me too. right this way" he said with a cheepish smile on his face, oh no.
