𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 - 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐆𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭

Prologue

Music was playing and a little girl was playing with her doll in the back. The mother looked over at her daughter and smiled. She looked back at her husband and he smiled and said " Eliza don't worry about my family and they are going to love you." The red-haired woman looked at her brown-haired husband and said " I knew it was just new to me, the red room didn't let me or my sister have any peace".

The dark-haired man looked at his wife and said "I know, Eliza everything will turn out ok". 

Eliza smiled and nodded.  Charles gave her a sad smile and held her hand". He kissed it and told her " I promise everything will be ok. Eliza smiled and said" I love Charles Barton. Charles smiled and said " I love you Eliza Barton" The two smiled at each other feeling love and happiness. Little did they know their lives would be cut short by a man in power and their daughter would become Avenger. 

Eliza looked back to see her little girl fast asleep not knowing that she wouldn't see her again. Outside of the car it was pouring rain and made it hard to see anything.  A good thing Charles was a great driver. Ava was asleep and Eliza smiled not knowing she and Charles would never see her again.  

Suddenly out of nowhere, a car appeared and Eliza shouted" "CHARLES".

 Charles saw and tried to swerve the car away from the oncoming one. The car didn't see them and the car got hit making their vehicle spin and hit the edge of the bridge. They hit the bridge and on impact, Eliza hit her head without the airbag's support which stopped working. Her head was gushing blood and it was not stopping. Charles opened his eyes and rasped, " Babe, sweetheart.." his head was pounding as he saw his wife not moving. Tears filled his eyes and he said " Eliza please answer me. There was no answer. 

Pain rips into him and he looked down and saw there was something in his stomach. It was sharp and blood was around it. Right there he knew he was losing time and he had to get out of the car but he couldn't if he could just get Ava out. 

Charles had tears in his eyes as he realized that he lost his wife, the woman he loved most in the world. Then fear came fast and he looked behind him and saw his daughter. 

Charles said, " Ava please wake up." The last couple of words were strangled and cut off by his coughing of blood and dust stuck in his throat.

The little girl opened her eyes and said " Daddy..."

Happness filed Charles and he knew that Ava would and would be the only survivor from this crush. 

Charles said, " Ava listen to me release your seatbelt and come here and don't touch anything". 

Ava nodded and unclipted the seatbelt got up carefully and reached over to her dad's arm. 

Charles held out one of his arms to her and Ava grasped it and her father pulled her to him. With a horrible groan, the car started to tilt into the water. It was winter time and so the water was ice cold. 

The little girl said with fear coating her words, " Daddy I am scared". Charles replied, " I know Ava but please try. Ava holds on to his arm and Charles uses all his strength to pull his daughter onto his lap. While he was doing that the car titled further into the water below.  Once Ava was on his lap, he looked at his daughter and said " Ava you are going to have to be brave now ok". 

Ava nodded but there were tears in her eyes and Charles knew he would see his daughter grow up Charles reached over to the last street he had reached over and pulled his wife's wedding ring off her finger and put it in Ava's jacket. 

The car pointed downward even more with his action, and Ava buried her face in her father's neck. Charles put his hand on her back saying "I love you Ava and so did your mum too and please remember that".
