To my darling sister, Ashley.

I write this with the purpose of a younger brother, who so vehemently wishes to understand his familial bonds. Over the course of the years I have known you, we have evolved separately. In one sense, I'd like to think that each time we saw each other, we both grew and bonded in some shape or form.

To you, my sister, I know not much of what you have suffered in your life. I can only guess. But I surely do know that I wish to pay homage to that. To your blessed candor. To your trifles of insecurity, impotence, and perhaps even confusion.

Life has been both kind yet rude to all those who live. And you are no different. But you are my flesh and blood. And as beautiful is your heart, only now have I noticed, such beauty was not obtained without sacrifice and hardship. Forgive me sister for the erroneous connections I make in this story. But please, let me honor you. Even in dramatic fashion.

I love you, remember that always.

Your younger brother
