The young boy stood there all alone, nobody to talk to, not even at home. He was walking around the forest on his own time. Then he heard a cluck, someone made a sound. He walked on over to the bush he heard it from and there he found a little chick. The chicken was very small and would probably die out here. As he got near he had seen the little chicken was hurt and bleeding. He walked even closer “I won’t hurt you” he said “I’m here to help you, let me bring you home.”
He picked up the chick and carried it home. “Is anyone home? Mom? Dad?” but nobody was around, no one ever was.  He grabbed some bandages from the cabinet, he knew where they were, he hurt himself often. He lifted up the wing and bandaged its wounds.
Suddenly he heard a door open, someone was home, he’d ask to keep the chick, at least till it was better. He walked out and saw his father standing there taking off his coat, he’d just returned from work. “Papa I wanted to ask you something!” “what do you need, boy?”  The father had responded to his son. “I found a little chick while out in the forest, it was hurt so I brought it home.” “and?” “well I was wondering if I could keep it till it heals…” The boy wasn’t sure if his father would be okay with it. “Go ahead and do as you wish, just make sure your mother knows.” This answer had surprised the boy “Okay!” And with that the boy had run off back to the chick.
For the next few months the boy would care for the chick. He always made sure it was okay and fed. Nearly a year later it was time for the chicken to be released.  The boy was holding the chick, bringing out to a nice spot the chicken would be fine in. “I’ll miss you little chick but it's time for you to return to the wild.” The chicken had clucked back at the boy. The boy had then put the chicken down, “bye chick” and the boy and the chicken had gone their separate ways.
