Devyn's P.O.V.

"Monica!" My dad said as he gasped for air.

She was sleep so he had to tap her multiple times. She's a deep sleeper so it has always been very hard waking her up.

"Huh" She said grudgingly as she awoke from her slumber.

"Dial 911!" He demanded as he continued to struggle for air.

"WHAT?! WHY?!" She cried out.

"CALL! CALL!" He begged with all the air he had left.

She reached for the cordless home phone on the hook but it wasn't there, she ran to the closest phone there was, the kitchen phone. Meanwhile my dad uses the last of his inhaler. He was supposed to get a refill earlier in the week but put it off multiple times.

Where am I? Four years old and oblivious to the whole situation. I was finally awoken by the roaring sirens of fire trucks, ambulances, and the many voices of peramedics getting medical information from my mother.

I rush to my moms side "Mommy what happening?!"

"Go back to your room!" she yelled with tears rolling down her face.

But before i could get halfway there she pulled me back and carried me on her hip to the car pajamas and all. It was 2:00 in the morning and thunder storming i could barely see where we were going with constant raindrops down my face, but out of everything I could clearly see my dad on a stretcher srtuggling for air, lips blue from the lack of oxygen. I couldnt believe nor understand what was happening.

We rushed to the hospital running stop lights, stop signs, everything. We finnaly arived to the emergency room. My grandmother, My two aunts, and my grandad was in the waiting room to my surprise but i assumed my mom called them to tell them about my dad.

After several minutes of what felt like hours of waiting the doctor came out to announce that they had done all they could do and that he had passed away.

My mom fell to her knees cying out "NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!"

Everybody began to cry and I was so confused. What had been said to make them act this way? I was young so i didnt understand at the time. I saw a box of tissues sitting on the coffee table in the middle of the waiting room so I grabbed the box and went around the whole room handing out tissues with the biggest smile i could make hoping to make some of them smile, but it wasnt working.

I left the hospital that day without a father or a clue.
