The scent of salt water was the first thing that hit him when he exited out of the plane. The airport was an open space one, no indoor buildings beside the little shops and restaurants but even so it was all in the open air. The weather was warm causing all the jackets that are being worn from the people coming off the plane to be pulled off. All expecting a cold breeze was welcomed with the hot sun.
Hawaii was a beautiful and natural place, but the one most tune to its nature side was the big island. No cities or big malls, the tallest building being only the hotels that reside next to the ocean, towns were sometimes hours apart to the next and between them were endless untouched lands. Towns that have been here since the beginning still stand hardly repainted and remodeled to keep the history.
Inside the airport people were still just arriving, vacationing or returning was on their minds. Children rubbing their tired eyes as they walked with the parents that can’t help but take pictures of everything they past and awe at the flowers that grew wild on the sides. Red hibiscus was very popular.
Sitting on one of the seats in the waiting section of the airport was a jetlagged teen who kept eyeing his phone for the messages of his friends. He was the first to touch down on the big island and have been waiting almost an hour till he caught sight of another plane hitting the runway.
Running a hand through his spiked hair Evan sighed, closing his eyes. He was still dressed for the cold weathers of home; dark jeans and a long sleeved shirt, his red jacket next to him after he taken it off the moment he left the planes air-conditioning and into the bright sun. Also next to him was a large duffle bag and backpack.
He can’t remember who’s idea it was but everyone agreed to have an vacation in Hawaii as celebrating their many years together, and for once, have everyone together. Including a certain masked man who agreed to not bring the hockey mask, it wasn’t like a convention where everyone recognized him just from his voice or the way he laughed. They were going to be like regular people for the next 2 weeks. No gaming, paparazzi, or YouTube. Just them, the hot sun, and all the beach they can handle.
Evan checked his cellphone again, his eyes lit up when he saw his messages blinking an ‘1’ over it. He opened it,
EVAN! We finally made it! Nogla fell asleep my shoulder and got drool on me, ew
He chuckled, replying back to Lui before standing up, stretching out his back before looking at the gates. They would be coming out soon and Evan couldn’t wait.
When he saw the first sight of his friends in the crowd he ran up to them, the shortest one squealing before running to meet half point and hugging the daylight out of him.
“Evan! Aloha man!” Lui yelled, causing some head turns and chuckles from the crowd. When he was done he pulled his friend arm’s length away, grinning ear to ear. “I can’t believe we’re actually here!”
Evan had a smile to match. “Me either. Can’t wait until the others gets here. They’ll flip.”
Lui was much better dressed for the warm weather then Evan was, he had on a sleeveless red hoodie and a pair of shorts peeking out from under the over length of the jacket. His shoulder length hair was tied back into a short ponytail, showing off his cheerful face.
