Familiar Strangers

Prologue

"Henesy! Hurry up Maui already texted me that she's with Hades and the others!" I heard Val shouted from downstairs.

I looked at my self in the mirror. I'm wearing a simple white floral dress, a pair of sandals, and a shoulder bag.

I took a deep breath and picked up my phone.

Today we're celebrating Maui's birthday. Hades is there so I'm sure he's there too.

Its been a month since we both parted ways and for the first time in a long time I'm going to meet him face to face.

I head out of my room and went downstairs and I saw Val with an irritated face.

I just laughed at her. Valyne Lattezia Helvena is always an impatient woman so don't ever make her wait.

"I can't understand why does it always took you hours before getting ready? And besides tayo lang naman nina Maui don e. Sino pa pinapagandahan mo?" anito at tinaasan pa ako ng kilay.

I just smiled at her and went outside.

Nag taxi lang kami papunta sa café na kung saan kami mag cr-celebrate ng birthday ni Maui.

I took another deep breath and went inside the café with Val.

"Goodness buti nalang andito na kayo, we've been wait for you." salubong naman sa amin ni Hades.

Val rolled her eyes. "Tell that to the girl right here." anito at itinuro ako. Hades and I just laughed at her.

I went to Maui side and hugged her. "Happy birthday Mau!" I said and kissed her cheeks.

I handed her my gift and the girl screamed in excitement.

Maui's birthday started. Andito na rin si kuya Kyll and we're all laughing and enjoying every moment.

Then in the middle of laughter Hades blurted out the words that made my whole world stop when I saw the man entering the café.

"It's about time, buti nga dumating ka may mag babayad ng mga order namin!" sabi ni Hades.

"Sorry I'm late, btw  happy birthday Maui." he said.

Our gaze met and all the memories came flashing back to me.

"Good to see you again, Henesy." he said and smiled.

I gave him a nod and smiled back.

I can still remember the times we had together and now we're nothing but a familiar strangers.
