1. Introduction
The problem with the AIP Autoimmune Paleo Diet is the large amount of green veggies and fruit you have to eat. Not liking veggies so much I fell upon the solution of blending them with fruits to get my daily requirements in a tasty, nutritious and healthy way.
The AIP diet suggests about 3 servings of fruit per day (3 cups chopped) and lots of green veggies, so I would suggest 1 smoothie per day with mostly fruit and 1 green drink per day with mostly green veggies.
That adds up to more than half of your required fruit and veggies in 2 healthy, tasty, beneficial drinks. I don’t know about you but I can’t stand eating all those veggies every day, so 2 green drinks make it a lot easier.

2. Smoothie Blending Guidelines
When blending your green and fruit smoothies follow these guidelines for the smoothest, lump free smoothies.
1/ Start by blending the fruit ingredients first with ½ to 2/3 of the water to make the base.
2/ Then start adding the green leafy vegetables, and blend up until smooth.
3/ Use a ratio of about 50% fruits to 50% green vegetables to get enough sweetness while gaining maximum nutritional value.
Don’t be afraid to vary recipes for your particular taste. If it doesn’t taste good then you won’t stick to it right?
Another good tip is if you find the green smoothies are never sweet enough for your palette then try adding 1/3 coconut water to replace 1/3 of the water ratio.
Remember by blending your fruit and veggies raw you get many times more nutritional value straight to your body rather than cooking them.
3. Autoimmune Booster Smoothie Recipes
The Green Hornet
Ingredients:
1 med to large apple peeled and seeded
1 ripe banana
1 half ripe avocado
1 pear peeled and seeded
¼ to ½ bunch of spinach, leaf, stalks and all.
16 oz of water
Blend the fruit with some of the water first to make the base. Then tear up the spinach and fit it in till it all blends adding any water you have left. And there you have it, a green hornet that will have you buzzing with energy
Spinach Papaya Pear Pleasure
Ingredients:
1 large or two smaller ripe pears, peeled, seeded
1 small to medium ripe papaya (slice in half, seed then scoop flesh)
½ an avocado, peeled, seeded
3-4 good sized leaves of romaine lettuce
1-2 small bunches of Spinach (2-3 handfuls)
16 ounces of clean clear water
Method:
Blend fruit and avocado and 2/3 the water until smooth. Tear up the greens and fit them into your blender with the rest of the water. Blend up good until leafy pieces are gone and enjoy your creamy green papaya delight.
4. Carrot Smoothie Recipes
Carrot & Apricot Smoothie
Ingredients:
2-3 Carrots chopped
2-3 sliced Apricots
1 sliced apple
½ a cup of water or coconut water
Put all the ingredients into a high powered blender and blend till smooth.
Carrot & Apple Smoothie
Ingredients:
2-3 chopped carrots
1 sliced apple
3-4 leaves spinach (or kale)
¼ – ½ cucumber
½ cup water
Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend on low to desired consistency.
