Chapter 1

Two days later

Alex was in their tent. James calls out for Alex. Alex says "I'm in here James." James runs into Alex's tent and says "Alex. You have to get out of here now" Alex asked, "why." James said in a hushed voice. "your brothers are here" Alex dropped what they were doing and said "where are they-" as he was talking they heard his brothers outside the tent. "I'm gonna right outside the tent" Alex grabs a cloak. Alex says. "bye, we'll see each other again soon." as he gives James a hug and runs out of the tent as he runs out his brother Jace saw him and said "not this again. let's go" and started to run with jack behind him. jack says "okay, let's go" as they run after Alex. jack says "Jace go run the other way around Alex and I'll keep running this way maybe then we can stop them." Jace did as he was instructed to do. Jace runs in front of Alex and tries to stop him. Alex runs into the forest. jack shouts out "ALEX. stop you have to come home mom needs you. please come home" Alex shout out "no I'm 19. I can have my own life. why can't you just leave me alone?! I'm old enough to leave home." "Okay fine. Just know mom is very disappointed in you" jack said. Alex said "I don't care. This is my life, not mom's. I have to go." Alex ran off towards the train. Jack yells. "Alex mom is sick. She wanted us to come to get you and tell you That she loves you and wishes to see you one last time" Alex stops where they were standing and says. "I'll see what I can do. But don't ever come to my place and tell me mom is disappointed in me that is no way to talk to someone. Especially if they're your family." Alex says as he gets up into jacks face. "I have to go and if I don't come, don't you dare come back. I'm done with the family, do you understand?" Alex asked even though it wasn't a question, Jack and Jace nodded though.

Alex goes back to the circus. James sees Alex and runs up to him saying. "are you okay." Alex said. "yeah I'm fine" Alex smiled walking to pick up the things they dropped. James watches him as he has a worried look on his face. "are you sure you don't look good"."yeah, I'm okay. I have to talk to theo." James asked them "why?" Alex replies "because."

Alex walks out of his tent and down to Theo's tent. Alex sticks his head into the tent and says "theo, you in here" theo hears and comes out of the backroom of his tent and says. "yeah I am come on in." theo says as he waves his hand for Alex to come in. Alex walks into Theo's tent. "I have to go somewhere for a little bit okay?" Alex says "why. are you okay," theo asks "it's my mom she's very sick. ill be back in a few days". "where is she right now," theo asked "Tennessee" as Alex says that theo got up from his seat and went outside. "listen up, everyone we're gonna be leaving in a few hours so get everything packed and loaded up into the train." theo yelled and walked back into the tent with Alex. "You didn't have to do that. I could go by myself?" Alex said looking astonished at theo. "yes I did, when I was little I didn't know my real family but you and everyone else make me feel like you are my family and I want to make my family happy and help them through hardships in their life." Alex walked up to him to gave him a hug and said, "thank you that makes me very happy that you feel like that. You all feel like more of family to me than my actual family will ever "

That same day at 9 pm

"Alright everyone is on the train."

theo looks at Alex and asks "are you okay. you seem nervous" Alex looks up at him from pacing the room and says to theo "yeah I am. I just haven't seen my mom in almost a year and my brother said that she's very sick. so yeah I am and I don't know what I'm going to do when I get there" as they were talking the train crashes. Alex falls onto theo. "Alex are you okay," theo asks as he helps Alex up. "yeah I'm fine are you okay. Sorry for falling on you" Alex says as he that's Theo's hand. "it's okay as long as you are okay and yeah I'm fine." theo says to Alex. "yeah I'm fine. what was that crash." Alex says as they both run-up to the engineering room. theo went into the room before Alex could. "what happened" Alex asks "Alex get over here" theo called Alex over and he had seen what happened to the engineer "oh my god." "it's the engineer," theo said "I'm going to find max, and nick" Alex runs out of the room and yelled for max and kyle. Once they found them. Max asked "what's up. what do you need?" Alex said "max the engineer is dead we cant leave" max looked up from his book and said "WHAT!"."calm down max." Alex said to max as he grabbed nick and pulled him to the side. Max told nick. "you know what to do,"."yes," nick said. "Okay good now go ill distracted Alex while you go." max told nick as he left. "Alex what happened." max asked as he turned back to Alex. "it was awful the engineer was crushed when me and theo got there." theo arrived after Alex had finished talking. Theo told them "guys, look outside" Alex looked outside they were very surprised to see who was outside. "do you know who they are." theo asked looking at max and Alex. "Yes, unfortunately, I do. I'll be right back." Alex said as he walked out to get off the train. 'what the hell. why are they here' Alex gets outside of the train Alex yells "what are you two doing here!" two men walk in front of Alex. The first male Liam walks up to Alex and says. "hey Alex"."don't just hey me. what are you doing here." Alex asks them as he looks between the two men. "Caleb told us to come get you, so come on," Liam says as he grabs his hand and started to walk away with him. "Liam that was a little rude don't you think," Thomas says as he walks with them. "I don't care come on" Alex stopped himself from walking anymore and says "what about everyone else" Thomas wonders the same thing and says "yeah Liam, we can't just leave them. what are we going to do." Liam picks up Alex and Thomas. "put me down" Alex yells at Liam. "No I will not we have to go or Caleb is going to be furious with us. now come on," Liam tells Alex and he stops moving around "okay the view is great and all but I can walk on my own," Alex says to Liam smirking. "Yeah! I can walk too." Thomas says as Liam puts them down. "thank you now we can go," Alex says as they all start to walk.

2 hours later

Alex, Liam, and Thomas make it to Tennessee. they go to the hospital to see Alex's mom. Alex asked "what room is mom in," Liam says "I know where just follow me," Alex says "ok lead the way captain." Liam, Alex, and Thomas get on the elevator.

Liam presses the button for the third floor. Once the elevator doors open all three of them walk out and are greeted by a guard. "Hi are you here to visit." Alex walks up to the guard and said "yes we are" as they say that they all write their names down with the time on it. Once all of them were done they all started to walk toward Alex's mom's room. Once they got there, Alex's brothers were outside of the room waiting. "Alex. There you are. We missed you so much." Caleb said hugging Alex. "Where's mom. I want to see her." Alex asked his oldest brother. Caleb walked away from the room door he was in front of when Alex had gotten there. "She's in here." he had said sadly.

Alex's pov

I walk into the room seeing my mother lying in the bed. "Alex. Come here please." I take a few steps closer after mom had said that. "How are you mom. Do you want your pillow fluffed or moved?" I asked her sitting at the bottom of the bed next to her legs. "No honey. Just sit here with me." She said in a hush sleepy voice. "Okay, mama. I love you." I told her grabbing her hand and holding it. "I love you too." She said in her low voice. My eyes started to water as I watch her start to fall asleep. "Get your sleep mom I'll be here for a week," I told mom, she looked at me and said. "I love you. Give me a hug before you leave." I get up and give her a hug. "My purple book. Look for it. It will explain everything." Mama told me as I was giving her a hug. I stand back up and look at her fall asleep. "Thank you, mama Sleep well. I'll be back soon." I said. Once I knew she was asleep I slowly and quietly walk out of the room. To see my brothers, Liam and Thomas. "Moms sleeping. I have to go to the house to get something." I said as I walked past them and left the hospital</p>

<p>20 minutes later </p>

<p>I get to the house. I walk in through the living room. No one was home right now. I continue to walk past the kitchen and into my mom's room. I walk up to the dresser on the other side of the room and opened the first drawer. I went through all the clothes in it and found her purple book. I pick it up. It had a lock on it. I start to look for the key in the drawer. I couldn't find it. "Where did you put it, mom?" I ask her knowing full well that she can't hear me. "God f*cking damn it," I said getting mad for not being able to find it. "Wait." I stopped looking in the drawer. "She wouldn't have? Fuck she would have" I said realizing where she put it. I grab the book and putting it in my bag. I leave the house and get into my car and start driving to the cemetery.
