Hello my loves, hope all of you are doing good and keeping safe. I'm sure you are all tired of my excuses by now and I am truly sorry for the very long delay in my updates, but it's just been too much for me to deal with. Anyway, I am going to stop yapping on and on and let you all get on with the story.
Corey's POV
Waiting for news was always the worst and I felt myself feeling tense as we tried to carry on with some sense of normality. It's been just a little bit more than twenty four hours since the meeting with Greg and we were all waiting with bated breath for any news regarding Father, but so far we have only heard of a few of the corrupt judges and police officers being arrested. Some of them seemed to have gotten wind of what was happening and fled before they could be taken into custody.
Father seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth, not leaving a single clue as to where he could be. Mother was taken into custody and questioned about his whereabouts, but after hours of her sticking to the exact same story, they had to let her go. Her story said that he just came home one day, told her he had to go on an urgent business trip and left. She hasn't seen, nor heard a word from him since then. They had nothing to hold her with, so they had to let her go.
I saw her on TV, as the reporters caught her being taken out of the house to an awaiting cop car. She looked terrible, and although I felt my heart twist slightly in pain at how stressed she looked, I pushed it down. She didn't deserve my sympathy. She stood back and let Father abuse me, helping him cover it up all the time. Not once has she tried to come to my defense.
I switched off the TV, after watching the latest news report concerning Father and the scandals that just seemed to be pouring out from everywhere, and picked my phone up. I opened up the Wattpad app I had loaded on there and immediately went to the story I was currently reading. I always read a chapter or two when I started feeling stressed, because it helped me a lot to escape into someone else's life, when my own was becoming too much for me.
I relaxed as I read the story and I lost track of time, when I was startled out of my little bubble by a kiss on the forehead. I jerked back and looked up, only to see Hayden's beautiful eyes smiling down at me. I blushed deeply as his smile turned to a smirk. "What were you reading that had you so immersed in it that you didn't hear me call you four times, since I walked into the room?" He asked and my blush went from slightly red, to a bright scarlet as I thought about what I had been reading.
"Um...uh..um...a-a s-story?" I tried, stuttering and blushing even brighter as it came out as a question instead of an answer.
His eyes were sparkling with mirth as he held out his hand for my phone, "Will you allow me to see what the story is about?" He asked and I knew if I said no, he would back off. I took a deep breath and handed my phone to him. As soon as he took it I immediately hid my hot face in my hands. I know I shouldn't be embarrassed, but to basically be caught reading smut was a bit more than I could take. As it was I was at a very crucial part of the story, so that was what Hayden would see as soon as he looked.
It was silent for all of two seconds, before I heard a soft gasp and I peeked through my fingers, watching as his eyes scanned the screen. He read for almost a minute, before he looked up at me, his heated eyes trailing over my face as I moved my hands slightly.
"Can you maybe give me a small summary of what this story is about, little one?" He asked and I thought about it. It was actually a good idea, because I needed his input on what I was reading as well.
"It's about a boy that has Social Anxiety Disorder, undiagnosed, and he works for his aunt, who thinks he's just shy, so she forces him to deal with people. He meets a man who owns a BDSM club across the street and they start a relationship. It's very cute and I really like how the boy manages his anxiety with the help of his Dom boyfriend and his therapist. Do you really think it could be that easy?" I asked and watch as he sits back to think about it.
