Katsumi took a chair and sat near the bed.
"Well it was a couple months ago. I saw him roaming around in the streets probably looking for trouble. I couldn't just ignore him so I challenged him to a duel. I thought that maybe if I turned him in, I could go for the remainder of the inmates. But that didn't go so well. Doyle kicked my ass in the end. I was completely knocked out. I thought he might kill me when I was out cold. But he didn't. Instead, he carried me back to the dojo where I was treated. My students were thankful not knowing it was him who fought me. I was confused but for some reason I forgave him. And do you know what he said after that? He said "I wasn't ready for you to die." I finally understood long after what he meant. I wasn't a suitable opponent yet. And I guess after that we've just been acquaintances." Katsumi explained.
"I see. And does he have anymore acquaintances in Tokyo?" Yana asked.
"I'm not sure. Mostly rivals I would assume."
"I feared as much."
Beat.
"Don't worry Miss Myoga. Doyle is a sensible man. It's what differentiates him from the other inmates."
"Thank you Katsumi for reassuring me. And please, call me Yana."
"Of course. You should get some sleep now. You look tired."
"I will as soon as I finish my tea."
"Alright. Goodnight Yana."
"Goodnight Katsumi."
-Yana finished her tea and turned off the lamp. She laid back into the bed and put her hand on her belly.
Her eyes were beginning to feel droopy and so she fell asleep.
-Yana was in her house cleaning the dishes while her child played in it's room.
After finishing the last of the dishes, she could hear clicking noises coming from the other side of the door at the front of the house.
She stopped what she was doing and listened anxiously close.
Her heart started beating faster but her breath shortened.
The sound stopped and suddenly, the door knob bursted from the door and landed on the ground. The door creaked open and revealed a man with no identity.
Yana quickly grabbed a knife she had just washed and ran to her child's room.
"Quick! Hide under your bed and don't make a sound!" She whispered to her child.
The man followed her to the room and stood there. Yana couldn't make out a face because it was blurred.
She held her knife high with the sharp end pointing at his body.
He approached her and before she could swing her arm, he grabbed the knife and threw it at the other end of the room.
He grabbed her throat and he clenched it hard. Her body was paralyzed.
-Yana woke up in the dark in a cold sweat. She was shaking from her head to her toes.
She gasped for air as if the events in her dream actually happened.
She turned the lamp on and she was still in her room at the karate dojo.
"It's alright. It was just a nightmare."
