I wake up to my alarm at 7:15AM for my first day of senior year. I get up out of bed annoyed and leave my room. I walk to the stairs and hear my parents arguing, classic. I walk up to my twin brothers bedroom to wake him up.
''Clay wake up, school" I whisper, slightly nudging him. He groans and a laugh escapes my lips. "cmon weirdo" He nods his head and i leave his room so he can get up. I continue to hear my parents so i decide to change up the routine today and get dressed and brush my hair before going to get breakfast. I rummage through my closet for clothes and finally decide on a pair of black ripped jeans and a green cropped hoodie with a black smile in the left corner. I brush my hair and go downstairs to hear no arguing.
I make myself cereal and sit at the island as I watch Clay do the same. As I stare at my bowl I remember all the times my parents have argued.
FLASHBACK
'They wont stop yelling' I mumble to myself as I start crying more and more as my panic attack gets worse. Things are being thrown and its all so loud, but so distant, so far. After a while my panic attack stopped and i got up to go downstairs for water to see the house trashed. 'and hes been drinking again'
END OF FLASHBACK
"Olivia" I hear from beside me, I look over and see Clay shaking me.
"yeah sorry I zoned out" I said quietly, avoiding eye contact. He rubs my arm comforting me. I get up and put my bowl in the sink and rinse it out, Clay following suit. I grab my lunch, putting it in my backpack, and walking out the door. I hear the door open behind me then I saw Clay beside me, walking with me.
"soooo you excited for schoollll" he teases. He knew i sorta had a thing with one of the guys at school, Karl. I hadn't really talked to him much during summer, occasionally seeing him at the mall or at the park.
"i mean i guess but im also kinda nervous" i replied, fidgeting with the sleeves of my hoodie. He could tell I was nervous.
"i was kidding weirdo, I know you get anxious for school, chill. Oh also, yk my friend Nick?" He asks.
"the one you play minecraft with? Yeah why"
" well hes coming to this school, he finally moved here" my twin says excitedly.
"ooooo cool cool" i say. Ive only ever spoken to this kid once and i dont know what he looks like other than hes taller than me but shorter than Clay.
We finally arrive at school after walking 20 minutes. We usually drive but since I dont have a car and Clay's is being repaired, we must walk. You grab your phone from your back pocket to see you are very early. Slightly annoyed, you put your phone back into your pocket and look up, seeing your friends sitting on the stairs of your school. Excited, you run over and hug them before sitting next to your best friend, Avery. She puts her arm around you and kisses your cheek. You smile and lean against her, your "friend", her cousin, scoffing. You roll your eyes, Avery was straight and you were bi, and her cousin, Scott, was very much homophobic but it never bothered you. You yawned and looked over to see Clay with his friends, George and Karl. He waves you over and you jog over, feeling someones eyes on my ass. You get to your twin and stand next to him, smiling. You say hi to his friends, seeing Karl wink at you when you said hi. Clay saw and got a little annoyed, he knew about you and him hooking up and he was not to fond of it due to his protectiveness.
