The dancing plague of 1518 was a case of dancing mania that occurred in Strasbourg, France in July 1518. Somewhere between 50 and 400 people were dancing for days. They all died because of all that. What caused that to happen? I heard it was stress, very bad stress, like they're pushed to the limit or something. There have been a lot of stressful things happening in France, specifically the city of Strasbourg. One of them happened to be the Bubonic Plague, but that's for another time. What started the dancing plague was a woman named Frau Troffea looking dazed at first, but then starts to dance fervently in a street. She continued to dance until she passed out from exhaustion, then when she woke up, she started dancing again. Seems like the dancing didn't die down. One theory was she's trying to spite her awful husband who hated dancing, but that becomes harder to believe when on the third day, blood was oozing out of her shoes. Another theory is that god is the cause of it as well as St. Vitus. How it was solved was the dancers dancing in a circle, donating a penny, wore little red shoes and the power of love. Fifteen people died a day in the plague, but the number of fatalities weren't officially recorded, just like the June 4 1989 Beijing Massacre. A physician noticed dancing came from overheating blood. I don't know what else to add there. This is pretty much a short History story here. Let me know if you want more of these in the comments. More information is on Puppet History, the video above.
