Stiletto heels clicked in the apartment complex hallway as their echoes continued in the same repetitive pattern. Her long raven locks cloaked her exposed back from the coldness of the building. She didn't care, though; the cold never bothered her in the first place. She was here for one thing, and one thing only.
A broad, white, oak door separated her from the one thing she wanted. Three knocks on the door and you could hear footsteps approaching the other end. It took a little while for a response before it swung ever so gently open. A shapely, brunette woman appeared with an unamused expression before finally building up the courage to let out a few words, "What is it that you want, Heather?" she spoke to the other girl.
"I'll tell you when you let me in, Courtney," Heather said as she pulled some loose strands of her ebony hair out her face, completing her icy complexion. It wasn't long before the brunette allowed her to step into the obscenely large unit.
She was then led to the couch, which was probably one of the comfiest sofas she'd been on in her life, but she'd never admit it out loud. Heather looked at her nails before eyeing Courtney with true sincerity in her grey eyes.
"Look, I've come here to apologise about the, well uhm, you know.. The whole Alejandro thing. It's just that I wasn't actually interested in him as well, I'm sure you were, and I'm sure you were devastated when you found out about him." Heather sighed; apologies weren't her thing, but she knew they weren't Courtneys' as well.
Courtney bit her lip, "It's okay. He was a bit too suspicious anyways. I should have suspected in the first place," she sheepishly smiled before Heather quietly giggled.
There was something about Courtney that really left Heather astonished. She couldn't decide on what it was, but she knew that feeling clicked when they talked to each other for the first time. How could Duncan leave such a beautiful and smart girl? And for her friend at the time? No way. Cheating shouldn't be justified; even Heather out of all people, had morals.
"I think I should take a break from boys." The brunette spoke out of the blue, her eyes focused on the floor or whatever that wasn't Heather. She couldn't bear to say this whilst looking someone in the eyes, especially Heather; a person who she had feared and admired at the same time. Courtney wasn't one to take criticism too well.
"I think you should."
As soon as her response was heard, the weight that was once being carried on Courtney's shoulders was being lifted off. She tilted her head a bit, "You really think so?"
"Yes, and I'll show you how." Heather ran her thumb gently over Courtney's rosy pink lips, before pulling her face to Courtney's, leaning towards her. Their eyes were at a balanced level, both staring at the darkness of the others eyes, both staring at the reflection in their pupils. The brunette filled the gap between them by pressing her lips against the asian's. Heather's eyes were wide for a few seconds before slowly closing, and relaxing to the sensation of the other girl's tongue licking at her lips, begging for an entrance.
Hands were all over the place, caressing and exploring each other's thighs, chest, stomach even. Heather murmured sweet nothings into the croon of her lovers' neck, comforting the both of them. Heather's hands were gentle than Duncan's, her lips were softer than Duncan's, the way her eyelashes brushed against her cheekbone was better than most of the stuff Duncan could do, Courtney thought as she let Heather take control momentarily.
Control and love. Loving control over the other. The one a person like you would long for, the type of control that felt right. That felt safe and secure.
You'd never feel safe around a guy like Duncan; you wouldn't like a guy who has too many women falling at his feet, you'd feel as if he was slowly falling out of your grasp and climbing into someone else's. He was unpredictable. You'd never know when he would abandon you and leave you to rot. You'd feel disposable, you'd feel like you could disappear.
Maybe it was time to try something new.
Their faces parted, heavy panting could be heard. Their hot breath hitting each others faces ever so slightly. Heather's fox eyes looked into Courtney's admiring eyes, she smirked as her thumb dragged down the brunette's bottom lip.
"Can't you see, Courtney?" She whispered huskily.
"Hm..?"
"We don't need boys."
